Hello everyone,
After way too many rejections last application season, I am happy to have received two admits this time around - Duke (With a 25% scholarship) and Tuck (No scholarship). I need your help in taking the final call, would love to get some perspectives from people in the forum
Profile - 5 years work-ex in a leading e-commerce firm in India, GMAT - 760
Post-MBA goal:
Plan A - Product management in the Technology industry (Firms like Google, Amazon, etc.)
Plan B - MBB consulting
They might interchange, as of now, I'm still figuring out which one would suit me better
DukePros:
1. Cost (I'll be taking pretty much all of the tuition+living expenses as a loan so this is a big factor for me)
2. More balanced in terms of career opportunities vs Tuck (I feel Tuck is heavily indexed towards MBB, at least that is the sense I got after parsing through their placement report)
3. Spirit of Team Fuqua
4. Better recall in India in case I choose to come back 5-10 years down the lane
Cons:
1. Slightly lower ranked than Tuck
2. It seems to be going down on the ranking scale steadily over the last 5-10 years (I believe their philosophy of choosing class basis fit over GMAT is a big factor here and I respect that but I'm worried it's going to hurt the brand name in the long run)
3. Less strong for MBB
Honestly, I have not been able to find too many strong cons for Fuqua other than the rankings bit
Tuck Pros:
1. Ivy League brand name
2. Personally I like Tuck's set up in a remote area, I believe this will help build better connections with the class
3. Extremely strong in MBB
Cons:
1. Cost - It is more expensive by ~$70k
2. Much lower brand salience vs Fuqua in India in case I choose to come back
3. Not too strong a brand name in the technology industry (Although I heard an interesting perspective from a Tuckie that since I would be one of the very few aiming for a tech industry role, I would get much more curated help from the career center at Tuck, not sure how true this is)
PS: I have also interviewed at Kellogg and asked for an expedited decision but didn't hear back while others who did got admits already so I'm assuming it is waitlist from there best case scenario.
