My reccomenders did 5 schools each and both did a fantastic job. I got them each $200 gift cards

I don't consider that excessive.

My thinking is, my recommenders were senior level people at my company. They probably spent at least 2-3 hours on each recommendation. So for four recommendations, they spent 8-12 hours total. That is NOT a small amount of effort for someone in their position.

Of course neither one expects anything in return for writing the recommendations. However, if I lived closed by I'd take them out for a nice dinner and wouldn't balk at spending $100. So, I'll just send them $100 and tell them to have a nice dinner on me.

I gave my recommender Best Buy gift card

Is there a fee for these? I'm gona get $100 for each of my recommenders, who wrote 5 recs each...$20 per rec isn't bad IMO.

There is no extra fee for Best Buy gift card. Since I only apply to one school, $50 card from Best Buy isn't bad at all.

I only spent $100/each.....

Each of my recommenders will write 6 recos for me.I plan to give $100 giftcard and a nice Indian handicraft to each of them.

I might loose my job in the next few months,so I can't spend more than that now.

I avoided the gift card route and sent mine Harry and David gift towers as the first thank you. Then after I was accepted, got them shawls as a second thank you.
