Hi everyone,
I would like to get general feedback on my ESR analysis and my next preparation steps. Is there something I am overlooking? And especially I would like to ask for your ideas how to prepare for difficult RC Questions.
Situation- I took the GMAT this year in February and scored 680 (47Q / 36V).
- While it is a good improvement from my first result with (47Q / 28V) I will still aim to go for the third time in order to get 700+ and my dream uni.
- One of the main reasons is that I have the time and I believe I can actually do it based on my ESR Analysis
ESR ReportMy ESR report (see attached offered two main weaknesses:
- RC (Only 41st Percentile)
- Difficult Quant Questions (especially in Geometry).
PreparationMy target is now to get to Q48/Q49 and bring my Verbal Level to 40+.
For Quant my preparation is mainly focused on:
- Be very solid in the fundamentals with
MGMAT Books and GMATClub Mathbook
- Dedicated study in the Topics to really make sure I understand most of the tested concepts (and also make sure I am ready for Geometry)
- Do
GMATClub Tests Questions to be ready for more difficult Quant Questions
- A lot of questions (try to reduce Careless errors)
For Verbal I am a little bit lost. My main weakness is Reading Comprehension. When I was on the test the passages were much harder than in
OG. This was to be expected, as I read that the
OG is only covering rarely Verbal Questions beyond 650+, but still, I am not sure how I can improve now.
My ideas:
- Switch now to LSAT Questions to improve my reading and analysis skills of hard RC passages (the simple passages I am comfortable)
- When I feel more comfortable with difficult RC switch back to RC passages in the
OG and eliminate careless errors
- Read a lot of books and high-level English (HBR, Economist)
What do you think of this approach? Anyone else been in the same situation and has some advice?
Happy for anything!
Best
