I think this is not a big issue, but I believe you should use your optional essay to explain why you wanted to take the GMAT again and what happened with you during that test. Otherwise, the ADCOM can make wrong assumptions/conclusions regarding your scores.

Hi msmbagal,

In almost all cases, your GMAT score is self-reported on your business school application. This means that admissions teams will focus on your highest score. If you are accepted, an admissions team will then confirm your score with GMAC, the makers of the GMAT test.
