My GMAT score is 770 (Q 51, V 42, IR 8, AWA 5.0) and my GPA is 5.56/10 (from a top 5 institute in India). If I convert my 10 point scale to a US 4 point scale by simply dividing, my GPA becomes a shocking 2.23. But if I use the conversion scale provided by WES (provided in this post), my conversion is 3.5 or a B+.
I'm not sure whether to explain my GPA using the optional essay or not. Can someone please provide some guidance?

Hi, You have a great GMAT score. We may need more information on your academic, extra curricular and experience profile to guide you better, however the point is simple - why leave out even a single point on which you may come back and regret. We would suggest you to plug all the holes and do everything you feel is necessary to make your application as strong as possible and then keep your fingers crossed. Wish you the best.
