There's a fair amount of debate on the issue.

One side is of the opinion that:

1. It makes you look kinda like a douche bag. Where you got your MBA should trump the score

on the other hand:
2. You would want to highlight the fact that you scored well (700+) in fact some firms IB/HF/PE actually ask you what your GMAT score was. For examples browse some of the posting on https://www.glocap.com.

At this point I'm undecided if I will put my GMAT score on my resume but I'm leaning toward leaving it off, as I do think it makes you look sort of like a douche.

Hey guys. What do you guys think about putting your GMAT on your resume? Is it unnecessary because its in the application? What if I'm handing out my resume at an MBA event?

Did you mean a resume for application to bschool, or a resume for a job post-MBA? I answered thinking it was for a bschool app..

The general consensus for job apps during school is to put your GMAT score > 700
If you don't, companies will assume you got below 700

I think he's referring to his resume used for applying to B school, not applying to companies post-MBA. In that case, I would vote "no".

I actually did mean the b-school application resume, and not so much a job post resume. And even more specifically MBA events (e.g Access MBA) where there are reps from a lot of schools who don't have your application on hand.

However, regarding the job posting:

So if I didn't get into an elite, or ultra-elite, or uber-elite, or ludicrously-elite program then I should definitely put my GMAT on my resume when applying for a position?

Anyway, getting this thread back on topic...

I think there is no need to have your gmat score on your resume for business school application purposes.

As you apply for jobs while in school, it may make sense if you are above a certain score (maybe 720 or so).

After you are out of school, it will just look silly. If a company asks for it later on, fine. But take if off at that point.

It is not necessary, why you are thinking to give these details, Your resume will be considered according to skills and requirement not on the basis of GMAT score. Be specific, give that much details which is required or asked.

How is putting your GMAT any different than putting your GPA? They both are numerical qualifications you posess. Does everyone who says nay to GMAT score also say nay to GPA?

I put mine on for this reason and for interviewers. A lot of the interviewers are application-blind, and I've heard of them asking for your GMAT. Point blank, it's relevant to the process and doesn't hurt anyone or take up any space.

Inside Columbia Business School's Admissions Office - What happens once you click that "submit" button?

Mary Miller, Assistant dean of admissions CBS - Once an applicant hits “submit,” his or her application goes to a first reader. Because we feel strongly that each application be reviewed by a qualified reviewer, we have very few outside readers in this role, and those who are are usually former employees of the admissions department.

Applicants can be invited to interview at any point in the process and being invited for an interview is a very positive signal to the applicant; the invitation is really, really important. A first reader can nominate an applicant for an interview, at which point candidates are sent a list of alumni in their local area who have volunteered and been trained to interview applicants. The applicants may choose whom they interview with and they arrange the interview. There is an interview format that we send to our alumni interviewers. They conduct the interview blind – which means that all they get is a resume of the applicant – following our format and return their answers to us.... read more
