PS. The interesting aspect I have just noticed is that food and drinks are now prohibited from the test center. I don’t know when this change has happened… maybe Covid related but kind of sucks.

Posted from my mobile device

Wait, really?? I was looking forward to powering up on caffeine during the break. I gave my Classic test during COVID and they allowed snacks and drinks in the lockers.

Actually, now that I think about it pvthakkar mentioned a protein bar in his debrief - https://gmatclub.com/forum/gmat-focus-7 ... l#p3305728

Maybe it isn't implemented all across centres yet?

Ya. Look at the list of the prohibited items. There’s only four prohibited items:

1. Food
2. Drinks
3. Candy
4. Weapons

🤯

https://www.mba.com/exams/gmat-exam/pla ... est-center

PS. On the plus side, it has nothing against my trombone I’m planning to bring to the test center.

PPS. I love that candy has been specifically carved out of food and drinks as a separate food group 😳

No candy but somehow stereos and radios are approved? I guess I'll just vibe to some music in the waiting room during the break. :upsidedown

Thanks for sharing, bb!

Yes I did carry and eat a protein bar right before the test and during my break. Was helpful.

P.S. - anyone know how to put images inline for a post? I want to put up my ESR with some content but not finding out how to upload ESR screenshots inline in a post. HELP!

When did you take your test? I’m trying to understand when the policy has been introduced.

Having some food or an energy drink has always been way to boost your concentration and hopefully score…

I think you can only add images inline from URLs. You'd use the code (please remove the hyphens) [-img-]-[-/-img-] and add the URL in between. Or you can add it as an attachment using the option below the textbox.

Btw, did you stash your bar in your locker or outside of it?

Thanks,
Sim

THANK YOU! ESR coming tomorrow.

The bar was in my bag which was in the locker. The strict receptionist who took my palm scan saw me eat it and had nothing to say.

No, my friend. Thank YOU for the ESR!

Huh... Guess the receptionist wasn't so strict after all?

Yes, I noticed that change recently too. Good thing the new test is shorter.

Wonder if test center complaints resulted in this new guidance.

Hi bb,

This is most likely an error. The legal contract that test takers sign includes this provision:
Quote:
Personal items, including food, drink, gum, and candy, are not allowed in the testing room unless expressly pre-authorized for a disability. You may store food and drink in a locker (if available for your use at the test center) and use them during breaks.
I had a chocolate during my break (Nov 7, 2023), and it's almost essential to get your own water in some countries (like India).

Maybe the people who create the content for mba.com just got it wrong?

I hope the explanation is that the mba.com guys aren't too clear about the difference between "test centre" and "testing room".

Exactly what I was thinking! All the test centre reviews I read noted snacks and water were allowed within the centre and not in the actual testing room. I plan to check in with the test centre ahead of my exam. Will revert here with their response.

Thanks,

I gave my GMAT on 29th Nov. They allow to have snacks / water during the break time in the common area, not in the testing area.

Hi!

Happy to confirm refreshments are allowed in the waiting area of the test centre and can be accessed during the break(s) for both the Classic and Focus Edition. I checked with the Pearson Professional Center staff in person.

It is likely as AjiteshArun mentioned previously -
