Hi thelady02,

You're not alone. Many students have no trouble successfully answering practice questions, and completing practice tests at home, but on test day, their test anxiety significantly reduces their performance.

Some possible strategies to reduce test anxiety include exposure therapy (visualizing exam day situations that trigger your fear response), positive visualization, reducing negative self-talk, and turning anxiety into excitement.

This article has several suggestions to reduce your anxiety: How to Eliminate GMAT Test-Day Anxiety

It's also worth mentioning that overcoming obstacles such as test anxiety is all part of the test. What's important is to develop the mindset necessary to gain insights from your weaknesses.

Here’s an article that explains this in greater detail: How GMAT Students With a Growth Mindset See Their Mistakes

Reading some posted debriefs by people who've overcome time management or anxiety related issues could be helpful. Maybe some quick tips you can take. Thinking of a plan B may also help you do plan A more calmly.

hi. It’s actually pretty common to panic on the test. Everyone will panic on the test or in the real combat even if they do really well in training.

so your goal should be get as close as you can to combat while you do training.

Make your practice count. Take 10 questions and set a goal. If you don’t finish those questions on time, and the way you’re supposed to come you have to do something nice for someone you hate. For example this may be donating money to a charity that you are against or money to political opponent that you dislike. I would suggest charity.

You can come up with the punishments that are things like no phone for a day or other painful but productive things.

The flip side would be to reward yourself for finishing the questions on time or early. You can take 10 questions and have a certain reward if you finish them and less than 18 minutes and then much bigger reward if you finish them in 15 minutes.

I would suggest approaching the problem of stress and being under pressure and trying to create these situations. You may also ask other people to watch you and perhaps it’ll be embarrassing if you don’t perform. That may be actually the most stressful and motivating especially if you build up the expectations.

Ultimately, you need to make your test less stressful or your practice more stressful to make the test less stressful and more comfortable.

I also highly recommend that you warm up before the test. A lot of times people will go cold and freak out. If you warm up, you will is into it more comfortably and your muscle memory will take over a lot of the things.

Hi,

But I don’t know why I panic while giving the tests.

There are a few topics that I’m not confident in such as inequalities, P&C, and msr. So, I’m trying to solve their questions. The problem is that when I solve questions, I am able to do them within the given time but not on test.

Any advice that can help me?

I am really aiming for a 655+ score.
