hey can anyone help me in answering this?
as per me it should be D, but GMAT club polls says A.
Roushan, take a look at the conclusion: it says that wearing a seatbelt reduces the risk of severe injury.
Now, as a smart test-taker, your job is to pause and think—wait, why should I believe that? 🤔

Remember, we’re not allowed to bring in outside knowledge (even if common sense is screaming at us). So we have to rely only on what the argument gives us.

Let’s check the premise: it says that 80% of severely injured drivers weren’t wearing seatbelts.

Okay... but so what? 😄
There’s a missing link here! Just because most injured people didn’t wear seatbelts doesn’t automatically prove that wearing one protects you. The argument skipped a step.
And that’s where you come in—to rescue the argument and make it look smart.

The correct answer (Option A) fills this gap by showing that people who wear seatbelts have a higher chance of avoiding severe injury (more than 20%) compared to those who don’t (around 20%).

Now that connects the dots properly and makes the conclusion actually believable.

Amazing explanation !! Understood the gap in my approach for these questions

Pardon me, I don’t think I have understood this thoroughly yet.
Please guide me on how A fits in this example or am I missing something here?
Consider
200 surveyed people,
100 severely injured
100 not severely injured

According to premise,
80 - severely injured and did not wear seat belt

Option A:
>40/200 wearing seat belts during accident

Option D:
>100/200 not wearing seat belt during accident
But only 80 people had injured severely. So rest >20 people did not wear seat belt and did not get injured severely
This goes against conclusion
Hence a weakener
Look at the question first ..you have to find.....What you can infer so that conclusion can be drawn

So in d option.. That is already stated ... That's why we chose A...

That's my reasoning

I understood about option D being incorrect. But how is option A helping the conclusion
Doing elimination....

Don't go... Why A is correct
Why others R wrong... It will be more helpful

but this question was not of strengthening or weakning, this question was under assumption category

as per my logic what i feel why D might be wrong is because of “more then half” word maybe, please correct me if i am wrong as i thought about this question later.
and i feel more than 50 can also be 100 but as per the paragraph it is 80😅.
Might be but my assumptions says.. Go with mild answers.... Avoid extreme and hazy words unless paragraphs says...
It will more easy to find correct one

Does anyone have any idea about how similar is the GMAT club practice test questions to the original GMAT exam level questions?

I am scoring Q72-Q77 in Gmat practice tests. I feel it is difficult.
