Hi GMATNinja I am in week 5 of the study plan and am still making careless errors in 10-15% of quant questions. I have tried figuring out why it's happening. I have gone through the video you recommended as well. But I can't seem to think of any solution to fix this.

I know it's very important to deal with this issue but I am unsure of how to go about it. Is it because I lack concentration? I am kinda lost now
There's no easy answer to this, unfortunately. I could say somewhat generically that you're struggling with your process for tackling questions -- I'll bet anything that you're not reading the question twice before you launch in, you probably jump into the first solution path that comes to mind, you don't always check your work as you go... and reading the question one more time at the end would probably help, too.

But you probably knew all of that. The hard part isn't knowing what you SHOULD do. It's actually getting yourself to do it, with 100% consistency. It's really challenging to change your test-taking habits, and to learn to do things differently. And there's no magic bullet for doing so -- basically, the goal is to figure out how to remind yourself to do something differently every time.

Yes, concentration could be part of the picture. Any number of things could affect your concentration -- lack of sleep, low blood sugar, barking dogs, ADHD, and so on -- and I have no idea whether any of those are the issue for you. For now, I would just think of it this way: dedicate yourself 100% to implementing the process we describe in this video, and see if a laser-focus on it helps the careless errors at all. Usually, when a student truly dedicates themselves to improving their process and wiping out sloppy errors, good things happen. :)

I hope that helps a bit, and good luck with all of this!

Super helpful! Best official score was a 630 and best practice was a 650. Recently got a 590 official and felt like I did well on the exam. Made a lot of simple errors during the quant homework 1, definitely an eye opening experience illuminating a major pitfall that's likely holding my score back.

Hello Charles, actually I'm not able to open the very first link for 10 linear equations question. Moreover thank you so much for this perfect plan, I've been preparing for GMAT since June 2023 but now I got it that my approach was incorrect.

Thank you for the kind words, MohamedNofal!

If you're planning to take the GMAT Focus Edition instead, you could start with a pair of simple tweaks to the plan:

    1. Skip anything that involves geometry
    2. Replace SC assignments with Data Insights practice

At some point, we'll likely update the study plan to reflect the changes to the GMAT exam. We'll figure that out after we publish a nice series of Data Insights videos -- coming soon.

Have fun studying!

Thank you for the kind words!

Data Insights and IR questions are a bit like verbal, in a way: I would strongly recommend sticking with official resources for those. So lean on the OGs and the official mba.com online practice questions if you need more reps with IR or Data Insights. We'll also have a fleet of Data Insights prep videos coming out in the next month or two, including a live series on GMAT Club's YouTube channel in early October -- so stay tuned for those.

I hope that helps a bit!

Thank you GMAT Ninja for the response. I actually meant to ask for Quant and not Verbal. I do have an older version of Official Guide (2021) that I'm using for the preparation. In some of the study plans, I do see the list of items like the following. Are these 2 referring to the same OG? Or are they referring to 2 different versions of the OG?

Ex: In Study Plan Week 5 Quant Section, we have
2. GMAT Quant Guide (skinny little book) PS #76-100
3. GMAT OG PS #76-100
They're totally different books. This is the Quant Guide (technically, the GMAT Official Guide Quantitative Review) -- a skinny little volume. This is the "main" GMAT Official Guide -- a much thicker object.

Links to all of the books are also provided in the "what you'll need" section of the week 1 study plan.

I hope that helps!

Thank you so much!! I'm in Week 9 and marching towards the exam next month :)

I might be asking a dumb question here, but is the quant and verbal homework’s per day? Or by the end of week the work should be done?
I m getting confused by the “ 1-3 days after completing the set, redo your errors from scratch”

It's the total amount of work that you should have done by the end of the week. Error correction and review don't count in the total time (although they won't usually take that long).
