Hi SubhamRanjan99,

The Scheduling options for the At-home GMAT and the traditional Test Center GMAT do NOT impact one another (meaning that you could take one of each on back-to-back days - or even on the same day - if you really wanted to, although I would NOT recommend that you take either of those options). However, each attempt does count towards your 8-Test lifetime 'limit' and you do have to wait 16 days between attempts in the same format.

How did you score on your recent Test Center attempt?

In the recent test centre GMAT, I scored 690. My GMAT Prep mock scores were 720, 730, 740, 680, 760, 690 in that order.
I hope I can score 20-30 points more in the next attempt which I am planning to take after a week or two.

Hi SubhamRanjan99,

GMAC has publicly stated that the Official Score that you earn on Test Day is within +/- 30 points of actual ability. Assuming a similar 'swing' in how your CATs function, most of your CAT/mock score results - along with your Official Score - show that you essentially performed the same each time (about 710 +/- a few points). You handle certain aspects of the GMAT consistently well, but 'your way' of approaching the Exam also leaves you open to making certain types of mistakes.

You might be fine retaking the GMAT immediately (and you almost certainly have the knowledge to pick up those additional points right now) - but there are a number of different factors that can impact your performance on a Test. Before I can offer you the specific advice that you’re looking for, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

1) How long have you studied in total? How many hours do you typically study each week?
2) What study materials have you used so far? What “brands” of CATs/mocks have you used?
3) On what dates (or approximate dates) did you take EACH of your CATs/mocks and how did you score on EACH (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?
4) What is your overall goal score?
5) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?

If you took your Official GMAT at a Test Center, then you might also choose to purchase the Enhanced Score Report. While the ESR doesn’t provide a lot of information, there are usually a few data points that we can use to define what went wrong on Test Day (and what you should work on to score higher). If you purchase the ESR, then I'll be happy to analyze it for you.

bb I am planning to give Online GMAT next week. However, I do not have the most reliable internet connection. What happens if my internet decides to go bonkers mid-way through the exam? (I am aware that pearson-vue used to offer to reschedule, not sure about the new system)

Hi sushant2143,

It would be a really good idea to make sure that your internet connection is stable before you take the GMAT Online. Some people have managed to take the test using a mobile internet hotspot, so maybe that's something you could look into as well.

Hello AjiteshArun ,

Thank you for your revert. Needless to say, I will keep hotspot + ethernet connection available with me as back up option. I wanted to be prepared for the worst case scenario, incase all hell breaks loose and all plans fail. Does GMAC /Examity understand the situation and offer to reschedule or do we lose the attempt?

Hi sushant2143,

You may be able to get a free retake, but I wouldn't count on it, especially if you tell them that your connection isn't very stable.

I'm not sure how they'd react to switching internet connections during the test. You could try asking someone who has tried doing that here.
