hi all ,
I was planning to take the GMAT and was wondering if our hands also need be in the proctor's view (while solving quant on whiteboard) when taking the gmat online or is it ok if they are not in view when tking the exam?
asking so that i can setup my computer and desk in that manner

Hello, tkent399. No, your hands do not need to be in full view of the proctor during the exam. Please refer to this post by bb in the GMAT Online master thread, in which he states that "[t]he whiteboard does not have to be visible to the proctor on the camera." To use that whiteboard, of course, you will have to write on it. Your proctor will check the whiteboard twice to ensure that there is no foul play involved.
One final note: Some online test-takers have been cautioned for putting their hands in front of their mouth, so it is probably best to keep your hands away from your face, off camera, altogether.
