Hello, killshot3. No, schools cannot use the type of GMAT™ you may have taken against you in admissions. (You might live in an area in which the online exam is the only one offered, and perhaps travel elsewhere would be prohibitively expensive.) Your official score report will indicate whether you took the GMAT™ or GMAT™ online exam, but, either way, your score will be valid for 5 years.

Good luck.

Hi all!

Building on a topic discussed here earlier, but to which I found no concrete answer.

I did the GMAT online and sent the report to the school. Yet, the application (specifically, for INSEAD) also requires to attach a document.

Since, in the GMAT online version, the "Official Score" is only visible online (no "pdf"/downloadable format), do you know if a screenshot is enough?

Many thanks!

Hello, nfbraga. This topic has come up before, but there are so many pages in the thread that I cannot blame someone for asking the question again. There are two ways I have suggested applicants submit such scores, with no complaints by schools so far: either take a screenshot or, if you want to play it safe, go to print what is up on the screen, then select "Save as PDF" in the print screen, at which point you will have a PDF to submit.

Good luck with your application(s).

So I see that it's possible to drink water DURING the exam, as long as it's in a clear glass.

A weird question but can you refill the glass DURING the exam or are those proctors going to think you are doing something otherwise than taking the exam - and will cancel it?

Also, I've heard that some people got their exam canceled because they went to the bathroom during the break, although it is permitted. So...how to overcome this strange obstacle? Are they expecting test takers not to use the bathroom for 3.5 hours?

Thanks!

Hi. There is unfortunately no clear standard or procedure identified on nba.com for leaving during the break but there are more reports, significantly more reports of people being fine believing during their optional break. I would recommend discussing this with your proctor just in case they are not familiar with the procedure. I believe that is the root of most issues, proctor training. It is understandable since they administer many exams and they don’t know the rules to all of them on top of their minds.

As to refilling your water glass, I don’t think that has ever come up. When would you do it? During the optional break? I would just drink water than in the bathroom to avoid any kind of administrative review for 30 days. 😬

I think you should be able to have a clear glass or a clear bottle? Do the rules require that would be a glass or can it be a clear container?

"Water in a clear container is allowed during testing; however, eating, smoking, and chewing gum are prohibited."

I'm not sure how an online proctor would be able to tell the difference between glass and plastic anyway, but it doesn't matter — so long as the container is clear.

Hi everyone... my first actual post...

Not sure if this has already been asked (apologies if it has) - I plan to take the verbal section first and would like to set up my physical whiteboard prior to starting so that I can physically mark off answer choices (e.g., number 1-36 with choices A, B, C, D, E) as I go. I have become accustomed to this process during my studying, so not being able to do so might throw me off a bit from a timing perspective. I took the exam earlier in the week at a physical test center (740 - Q49, V41) and used the untimed NDA screen to set up my notepad (approved by the proctor), but have read on the GMAT Online Policies & Procedures that you are required to show a clean whiteboard prior to starting the first question. Does anyone know if I would be able to set up the whiteboard during the NDA screen and not have to erase it all before the first question?

Thanks

Hi jwmartin,

You could try asking the proctor again, but, as far as I know, this is not allowed. Given the number of (online) tests that end up being flagged for review, I wouldn't take this risk if I were you.

Congratulations on the 740. :)

FYI:

Today someone posted on Reddit that all 700+ scores on the GMAT online are now being automatically sent to an administrative review process that adds 13 or more business days to the official score release date.

Their source? An anonymous GMAC employee. Below is the text of the Reddit post.

FYI: All 700+ Online Scores are being administratively reviewed

"I talked on the phone this morning with a GMAC rep and he let me know that all 700+ scores undergo administrative review (adds 13+ business days to receiving your score). He did make it seem like this policy wasn't always in place, but it is now.

Just a FYI - especially as we get closer to timelines, it may be wise to just take the test in person and avoid the month+ long wait to receive your scores."

The online proctors may or may not be able to properly identify the materials in a bottle. Even if they do not raise any issues, other parties in the process may raise issues afterwards. AI intelligence and manual reviews can raise flags in later stages of the process.

Proctors are not needed to be perfect in their assessments. GMAC online exams have strict policy requirements, more so perhaps than in offline test centers which have different kinds of monitoring systems in place. Please do not provide GMAC any reasons to place sanctions on your exam or on your account. Follow the stated policies very closely and inform the proctors on record if you have any doubts or concerns.

I agree about the proctors and secondary review. At the same time, feel the key is that the container is transparent. I don’t think the material is important. 😇

Hello guys I would appreciate some help concerning the check-in process. From what I’ve read, before the online exam you have to pair your cell phone and take some photos. However, it’s highly likely that for a short period of time I will have a different phone number than the one provided in my examity profile. Are you aware whether this can cause any issue? Would you suggest I wait until I have my original phone number back? I’ve just asked these same questions to GMAC but since I was planning to take the test in 2 days, I’m afraid they wouldn’t answer soon enough.
Thanks.
