Hi. In the past, percentiles were refreshed every two or there years. These changes were mostly glacial speed and were very very gradual. They would usually collect about 500,000 tests and then use that number to release updated percentiles.
I can be wrong and I can always underestimate the lack of common sense in the GMAC’s product team, but I would argue that it’s in their best interest not to update percentiles if there are big jumps.
Consider 2 scenarios:
1. There are very few minor changes - this would be positive and potentially good to release to make people feel better. At the same time, if the changes are minimal and minor then why even bother....
2. Let’s say there are some big variations and jumps versus estimated numbers and in part this may be due to low volume of the tests taken. I don’t think GMAC would choose to rock the boat and annoy a bunch of people.
I would also add that sectional person tiles don’t really matter. Schools only really care about the overall total score. Of course the percentile for that score can change too, but in the past it was much less impacted compared to sectional differences.
