TL; DR: Want to take the exam on Monday because of a Pearson test center **** up. Change cannot be processed until GMAT offices reopen on Monday AM. Will I be able to schedule the exam on th day of, assuming a slot is still available?

I had a disappointing experience taking the GMAT today at a Pearson test center. They handed us ear plugs in addition to the standard ear protection “for the drilling.” And when I was two minutes into the exam, a loud drilling/jackhammering noise started and my desk began to shake due to construction in the building.

During the first break, I asked the proctor if I could cancel my exam without finishing to be able to reschedule without the 16 day wait period to retake the exam. I had gotten distracted and ran out of time because of the highly distracting noise and rumbling on the other side of the wall.

I know the material, and I want to take the exam on a Monday at noon, so I can take care of it before I leave for a long-planned (nonrefundable) vacation on Wednesday. The problem is that Pearson hasn’t processed my “claim,” and the gmat site won’t let me reschedule for the 12PM exam on Monday because it says I need to wait 16 days.

The GMAT people aren’t available to help me reschedule on the phone until Monday morning. Doesn’t anyone know if I can scheduled an exam on the day of?

I'm sorry to hear that. Based on my experience, you won't to be allowed to do so.
