Hi nick32,

Many Test-takers find the GMAT to be challenging, so you are not alone. Many GMATers spend 3 months (or more) of consistent study time before they hit their 'peak' scores, so since you are planning to take the GMAT at the end of September, you have given yourself almost 4 months - which is great. Scoring a 700+ is a challenging task, but the GMAT is a consistent, predictable Exam, so you CAN train to score at a higher level.

Back in March, you took an initial practice CAT/mock. You should NOT take that same CAT/mock again though (since you will likely see some questions that you saw before). Once you have your next Score, you should post back here and we can discuss the results.

1) What Schools are you planning to apply to and when do you plan to apply?
2) Going forward, how many hours do you think you can consistently study each week?

Hi nick32,

If you will be able to consistently study 20+ hours a week, then you could potentially improve a great deal over the next several months.

Starting off by taking a FULL-LENGTH practice CAT Test is a good idea; you can take 2 for free at www.mba.com (and they come with some additional practice materials). If you want to do a little studying first, so that you can familiarize yourself with the basic content and question types, then that's okay - but you shouldn't wait too long to take that initial CAT. That score will give us a good sense of your natural strengths and weaknesses and will help provide a basis for comparison as you continue to study. A FULL CAT takes about 3.5 hours to complete, so make sure that you've set aside enough time to take it in one sitting. Once you have those scores, you should report back here and we can come up with a study plan.
