Hi Everyone,

I gave my 3rd gmat attempt today and got a poor score 590(Q47,V25,IR 3).My score has been plateauing. My first attempt was in November last year and I scored 590(V32,Q39,IR 4).In my second attempt I scored a 580(Q45,V25) earlier this year.I have a engineering background and I am pretty comfortable with Quant.I feel I can push it to 49.I think the GMAT club tests have of great help.I am also using Magoosh and advanced Manhattan Quant.

I am also registered on e-gmat but I not have taken the course properly. My major issue is with stamina and mental fatigue. As I go into second section I am very exhausted.I feel whichever section I can do first,I have a advantage and I dont think I am particularly weak in either section.

Also the most important part I want to discuss is timing.I am never able to finish the exam on time.Never.In Quant I can complete about 24/31 questions on time and put B on all the rest in the last minute.I guess my score drops badly from there. Its worse with verbal.I can complete about 26/36 questions on verbal and then again the rest I guess by putting B again.Has anyone encountered the timing issues on GMAT?How did you fix it?How do you improve on timing?I think this is my biggest weakness rather than conceptual clarity on verbal.

Hi

You probably need to speed up and avoid double checking every time. Remember GMAT slaps on your face if you do consecutive wrongs. It is better to guess on every 3rd question than marking all B from 25 to 31. In verbal, if your accuracy is 100% in 1 to 15 question, you can skip strategically with gap of 3.

Remember this is worst case scenario in which you can't improve your speed.

Hi,

Timing comes with practise. Even I did my verbal from E-gmat. It’s very good. After completing the course material, complete all quizzes in Scholaranium. That helps a lot with timing issues. My Quant is very weak and I am focussing more on it. But I don't think a person requires more than E-gmat course material and scholaranium for Verbal section. I did my Quant from GMAT club tests and they are really good.

My exam is on September 26th by the way.
Wish me luck.

Hi Sachindevmalik,

Best of luck for your GMAT on the 26th.I hope you do well.

In case you are weak with quant I can suggest you a few things.Go with Magoosh. Its amazing.Solve all questions. No stone unturned. Then advanced Manhattan quant and all 25 Gmat club tests. If you have time left go with Quant scholaranium of E-gmat.Its very good too.But I only did probability questions from it.Its on a lot harder side. That's why keep it till the end.IMO Magoosh,Manhattan and GMAT Club tests should set you up for a Q50.I only did 30% of what I recommended to you and got a Q47 and I messed up with pacing part of which I thought was exam anxiety. But as I was randomly guessing on the final 7-8 questions I had a feeling I could get at 70-80% of them right. Therefore I think the material I suggested you should be suffice for a Q50

Thanks Vakratunda.I think this will help.Just found out that GMAT permits max 8 attempts.I have been very casual with first three attempts.I am so pissed off with myself.Had I known about the limit,I would never have attempted yesterday's exam.

If your quant basics are good then just do gmatclub quant tests. It has great quality questions with best explanations.

Kudos, if you like the same
