Hi ibctrade

Thank You for responding to our queries! :blushing:
We would suggest the following-

(1) You have to increase your time of preparation to at least 3-4 hours on weekdays and 6-8 hours on weekends. You can do so in a phased manner slowly. Since you shall be free from Saturday as you mentioned, dedicate "effective and focused" study hours to the prep. Try to have an integrated approach so that your brain is trained to shift from Quants to verbal and vice versa.

(2)Analyze the errors you have made on mocks and during the OG practice and ensure that you understand the error patterns and take necessary steps to seal the open ends. You can refer to our recent post on error pattern here https://gmatclub.com/forum/need-to-impr ... l#p2801463

(3)What we understand with this interaction is, you need "fundamental clarity" through "questions"! We have an On-demand course for that and you can also have a look at our free webinar videos to understand better. Our course can give you a hold of different strategies and techniques to handle GMAT questions on Quants and verbal. The bottom line is, -ensure that core concepts and their applications are not a problem in your way-.

(4)Keep a day for Revision and practice OG questions on this day while also reviewing the notes/shortcuts/techniques that you have made throughout the week for the topic being practiced.

(5)Plan your preparation. Stay organized. If you are deviated and do not have a planned approach, things can feel scattered and muddy.

(6)Do not be distracted. Prepare with persistence and a positive approach.

You can reach out to us for any further query/guidance.

Wishing you the very best ! :student_man:

Hi,

Focusing more on concepts may be a good idea to boost up scores. What material did you go through so far? Attempting easy and medium questions from OG and making flashcards or notes on takeaways from OG problems must help you to move ahead. The link enriched good contents might be useful for you: https://gmatclub.com/forum/search.php?view=search_tags

Good Luck!

Hi Gmat Cluber

I will dedicate every day, more than 8H, to GMAT from this Saturday.

Is it enough to focus only on the OG 2020 Quiz?
Which difficult Quizzes should I practice?
How can I balance Quant and Verbal Quizs? is there any study plan?
I should focus more on Verbal or Quant?

Thankss in advance for your advice

Hello ibctrade,

A score of 480 is a bit shaky. You can schedule a Comprehensive counseling session for 30 mins with one of our experts: https://calendly.com/mathrevolution for detailed advice on your study plans.

With my GMAT tutoring, guidance, and counseling experience, we have to accept that with a pinch of salt, diagnostic/ mock test scores are above what one should expect in a real test. There is often dropping in the score. Some students have even experienced a drop of 100 pointers. It is one of the realities, and your preparation should not sideline this fact.

We would like to recommend specific vital points which will be helpful. To improve, you will require consistent learning and practice. Also, keep motivation high to learn.

A couple of things that can be a noticeable barrier to your scores would be some or all of the below.

• Lack of basic math skills
• Not detailed knowledge of GMAT Math pattern and Question types
• Inefficiency by using time-consuming Conventional method to tackle DS and PS questions still
• No expert support (maybe) who can tutor, analyze, and guide you during your learning
• Lack of many updated questions and practice in the recent exam trend
• Not well aligned with time to solve questions.

Also, make a note of various possible combinations to achieve your target score. The possible scores will help you track your performance after taking the mock or practice test. It will also help you maintain balance in both the sections, and you will always be in a great position to allot the study hours to a specific area accordingly.

Take continuous mock tests(every week) to track your performance.

Regular tests will reflect the positive change in the score, and hence, your confidence will boost up. Gradually, with the help of mock tests, you will be able to compete with time and hence will be able to learn time management.

We appreciate your time and patience in reading this reply.

Should you need any further information, please do not hesitate to contact us at [email protected].

Success is within your reach.
Good luck!

Your verbal SC may get a quick boost if you memorized the more commonly tested idioms on the GMAT (i.e. either X or Y)

Hi,

Though there are rooms for improvements in both your quant and verbal scores, it will be easier to add more points if you focus on quant. You can attend a free live event called Foundations of GMAT Math, which used to be charged a few weeks ago: https://www.manhattanprep.com/gmat/prep ... gmat-math/

Good Luck!

Hi ibctrade,

A June 25th Test Date is roughly 2 weeks away - and considering that your 2 Official Scores so far have both been in the 400s, it is likely that you will need more time than that before you will be able to consistently score 550+. Thankfully, to earn that type of Score, you do NOT need to correctly answer ANY questions that you think are too hard or too weird, but you will have to keep the little mistakes to a minimum on all of the 'gettable' questions. With another month of proper, focused study, I think that you would have a reasonable chance of earning that type of Score.

From what you have described so far, I'm concerned that you are going to try to "cram" too much study time into the next 2 weeks (and in simple terms, you have to be careful about confusing "quantity" of study with "quality" of study). I have never asked anyone to study 30+ hours a week - and while it's great that you might have the available time to study that much, with that number of study hours, you would run the risk of 'burning out' before Test Day (and that is something that we want to avoid). If you are going to try to study that much, then I suggest that you take one hour "off" for every two hours of study. For example, you could study for 2 hours, then stop for an hour, then study for another 2 hours, then take an hour off, etc.

Before I can offer you the specific advice that you’re looking for, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

1) On what dates (or approximate dates) did you take EACH of your CATs/mocks and how did you score on EACH (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?
2) What Schools are you planning to apply to?
3) What application deadlines are you facing? Are there any later application Rounds that you would consider?

Hi EMPOWERgmatRichC,
These are my answers:
1) 06 May mocks on E-Gmat Score: 530 Q40 V23
13 May mocks on Gmat prep 1 Score: 500 Q44 V16
15 May Online Exam Score: 430 Q39 V12
02 June mocks on Gmat prep 2 I scored 500 Q44 V17 ( in this attempt I feel my verbal skills improve a lot, after the mocks on E-Gmat which I Got V23, but I still get a low score.)
06 June mocks on ManhattanPrep Cat I scored 540 Q38 V27 (i focused on V in these days)
09 June Exam on Gmat centre I scored 480 Q36 V20

My next attempt will be in the Gmat centre on 25 June, and the deadline for the University that I want to apply to is on 30 June.
I need to achieve at least 550, what do you mean not necessary to answer the Hard question?

Thanks in advance for your advice!

Hi ibctrade,

GMAC has publicly stated that the Official Score that you earn on Test Day is within +/- 30 points of actual ability. Assuming a similar 'swing' in how your CATs function, most of your CAT score results - along with your 2nd Official Score - show that you essentially performed the same each time (about 510 +/- a few points). You handle certain aspects of the GMAT consistently well, but you also make certain consistent mistakes.

Since the average Score on the Official GMAT hovers around 550 most years, you clearly do NOT need to correctly answer any questions that you think are too hard or too weird to earn that type of Score. By extension, if you chose not to spend too much time on those tougher prompts (in simple terms, just take a quick guess on anything that you think is too difficult), then you would have MORE time to spend on all of the other questions. With that extra time, you might be able to avoid making some of those little mistakes - and thus score higher.

1) If you do not score at least a 550, then will you still apply for the June 30th deadline? When would be the next time that you could apply?
