I am a little confused relating to the scoring on the real GMAT exam. I just took a GMATPrep test and the number of questions were:
37 Quant
41 Verbal

People have posted their real GMAT scores on the forum, one user's score being Q42, V47. How are these scores possible if there is only 37 quant questions and 41 verbal questions on the test? I'm sure it is related to the difficulty of the questions, etc. Can someone please explain?

Thanks.

These are raw scores (for each section).
The GMAT score is based of 2 components:
GMAT - from 200 to 800 (also both Math and Verbal sections are scored on a 0 to 60 basis)
AWA - essay writing is scored on a scale from 0 to 6
