First of all I'd like to thank you for this program that helps a lot of people in their preparation for GMAT. It's great!
Nevertheless my first use of this program wasn't lucky: I solved almost all verbal section, pushed pause and went away, when I was back my laptop was unable to awake from suspend mode, and I lost all results! If I used Excel (+timer) for this purpose it wouldn't happen cause Excel makes temporary files and saves data in a stated period of time (that I can change in options).
May be it's better to save each answer to a txt file i.e. update txt file each time user answers to a question?
P.S. and one more improvement that can be made in this program - adding a hot key ("P" or "blank") for pausing.

Hi Walker

I am using the GMAT Timer not only for timing paper tests, but also for my daily practice. The only problem I face while practicing is, I have to reset the timer after 37 questions of Quant (or 41 questions of Verbal). If you are planning to enhance the timer anyways, could you please change it to accept number of questions and countdown timing as user input?

Alarm makes sounds (no other notifications). Maybe you sound volume was zero or maybe configuration of your system doesn't allow the timer to play sounds.

I found out a reason why my GMATTimer made no sounds.

control panel-> sounds and audio devices-> sounds tab-> check if the sound scheme is selected to "No sounds" , instead it should be selected to "Windows default".

OK. Can we track time spent for each question while answering? How do we find out if we have exceeded the 2 min mark for a given question? Do we need to note down the time at the start of the question and keep monitoring it while answering the question?

no.
you will see only a countdown timer for the whole section. the timer shows the remaining time.
It is up to you how you trace the remainning time.
the most useful is to keep in mind that there are only 2 min per question. so if you are dealing with the 20th question on your timer you must see 75-20*2=35 minutes remaining.

F$#@$% fabulous !

Thanks walker !!

I think this post should be made sticky.

PS - since you were asking about bugs - in the verbal section there are 41 questions not 37.

:)

Hi KS. i was about to post about the same *problem* that you saw on the timer until i discovered that the number of questions changes once you start the Verbal timer. otherwise it remains as 37.

PS. KS. i guess number of questions on V is 41. :)
