Thanks for your reply.
What i dont understand is, I felt quant very easy. Also SC is easy for me and I have struggled in CR & RC. Sometimes I think I have answered right answer and no matter what I will stick to answer. But this turns out to be disaster and my answer was wrong!!

Hmm that's a tough one; maybe you just need to take a more comprehensive diagnostic test and see just exactly where you're messing up and see if there is a pattern among the questions you're missing and then use that information to build a study guide for yourself.

Man, based on how you write your posts in this thread, I can see why you had trouble with the Verbal.
Have you taken TOEFL or IELTS and, if yes, how did you do ?

Hi notmygmat,

It sounds like you've already identified some of the problems with how you studied the first time. The big issue is ultimately "consistency." The GMAT is a specific event that you CAN train for, but it does NOT seem like you trained in a realistic fashion for the full GMAT.

To hit your goal score (650+), you're going to have to start much of this process "over." While you've clearly picked up some Quant skills, you're likely going to have to do some work in this area as well (meaning that you can't just focus on the Verbal section and fix all of these problems).

I have a few questions about the work you've done so far and your timeline/plans:

1) When you took your CATs, did you take the ENTIRE CAT (including the Essay and IR sections)?
2) On Test Day, did you have trouble finishing any of the sections on time? Did you have to rush through a bunch of questions at the end just to finish? Did you leave any questions unanswered?
3) When are you planning to apply to Business School?

To help you set your expectations going forward, you should plan to spend 3 months of consistent study time on this process. During that time, 10-15 hours per week (or more) will likely be the norm. You're also likely going to need to invest in some new GMAT materials.

Thankfully, the GMAT is a predictable, standardized Exam, so you can CAN train to score at a higher level.

Hi Rich
I agree with you that quant and verbal should be given equal importance and time.
Planning to purchase extra materials (Verbal foundation by MGMAT, Powerscore for CR). Any good suggestions for RC? I will continue with existing book for SC i.e MGMAT.

Hi pairakesh10,

I'll be happy to offer some suggestions, but you'll have to provide more information about your situation:

1) If you have an Official GMAT score, then what is it (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores)?
2) How have you been scoring on your practice CATs (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores)?
3) What is your score goal?
4) What resources have you used so far?

Good thing is that you are aware of your weaknesses(Bad CR/RC/Stamina). Bad news is that you are overconfident that you strength(Quant) is reliable.

There is an answer to cover up your weaknesses and strengths in your own post.

First things first, your weaknesses of Bad CR/RC/Stamina can be overcome by only focusing solely on them. I am pretty much sure that RC is the toughest and highest from weight-age perspective of marks in GMAT. The power of RC increases with the ability of RC to drop your score in a compounding fashion as they make you commit errors back to back in real GMAT. The best advice I received is to take LSAT RCs back to back till 4 hours. If you are non-native, here is the bad news, you are pushed further back because of your non-awareness of topics, diction, idioms which native speakers are well aware of. You have to push and train yourself at least to remain attentive with your dodgy mind for four hours in order to peak your performance. This should be done regularly for 21 days because it takes at least 21 days for someone to get into a habit. GMAT is just a pursuit of mastery over techniques and your abilities to focus. I am not sure about how many techniques you have come across to tackle GMAT, but "ability to focus" is something which is in your own hands. To add to this, if you are really interested to grill for CR from the scratch, go for Powerscore CR Bible.

For the Quant part, I think you are still falling in standard traps. Try to wrap up as much as GMATClub tests and focus on trap part. There are questions which are just too lengthy and too difficult to solve. But they can be left off for the time being. But do remember to revise all the tricks.

Hi,
I gave my GMAT today and scored 480!!! (Q44 and V14). Never imagined this score even in worst nightmare. Immediately cancelled my score.

I am not sure what really went wrong. I felt quant to be very easy and I was getting tough questions in between. I know that I am weak in verbal, but I expected at-least V25 or so as per my mock tests.
Below are my mock test scores:

1) GMAT Prep1: 600
2) MGMAT1 : 570 (Q40,V29)
3) MGMAT2 : 630 (Q44,V32)
4) GMAT Prep2: 570 (Q48,V19)
5) GMAT Prep3: 570 (Q44,V23)

Really confused looking at the pattern above. Messed up big time in GMAT today. I am expecting a score of around 670 for my part time mba. But expected around 620 this time. I really wanted to get a good score so I can start applying for Fall 15 classes. Looking at my 1st GMAT, I need to go from 27 percentile to 80 percentile, I dont know how will I achieve this.

Below are my study materials:
1) OG 15 with Supplement guides.
2) MGMAT Guides
3) Magoosh(Did not get time to complete this)

I am 6+ years working professional, married with 1.5 year old son (Yes terrible 2 is going on!!). But still somehow I managed to start chasing my dream of mba. I started studying in Oct 14. I could not concentrate initially but managed to study whenever possible. I have made lot of mistakes in these days of study, such as
1) Created study plan but never followed that.
2) Gave importance to quant only
3) Very little practice for CR and RC.
4) Booked Gmat without actually seeing required score on mock tests.

Can someone please please guide me what should I do now? I know, its like starting from scratch now but I am almost exhausted now.Can you please let me know what are the must have characteristics for a Score 650+. How can I improve my verbal? Please help with next steps.

Thank you so much for your time.

I was practically in the same boat as you're in a few months back. If you can set aside 10-15 hours each week to concentrate on Verbals, I think you may find the e-GMAT course extremely useful, I did.
