Hi all,

I'm not new to the gmat but i've been studying for about 9 months for the gmat. I've scored 570 and my target score is 680. I believe I have some gaps in my concepts and will need help in refining strategy and methodology approach to the test. I've previously used these in my preparation, e-gmat prep course, official guides 2019 and gmac test.

I feel that i've exhausted most of the official questions and test and I'm not sure how to proceed.

Would it be better to take a private tutor from GMAT Whiz or join a group class from Manhattan Prep?

I've signed up for the trial session with Gmat Whizz (not the trial private tutor session) and I find it similar to the e-gmat course, the only difference is that the course is somewhat tailored to your weakness.

Could anyone provide any advise which should i go for?

Appreciate it!

Thank you.

Hi pullwad,

I enrolled in GMATWhiz and found it helpful. I scored 570 in my first attempt and later improved it to 680 and then to 720 by studying using GMATWhiz. Yes, I agree that GMATWhiz helps you to work on your weak areas. The study plan and mentorship services provided were very helpful. You might find my debrief helpful.

And not sure about the other resource you mentioned. I enrolled in GMATWhiz online course. But, if you want their private tutoring, I think there is a free demo session available. Try it out. All the best

vamshikaithi, You have got a great score! How long did it take to reach 720 from 520? How many hours did you study per day?

Thank you sjuniv32. My first attempt was in Nov 2019, in which I scored 570. Then, I started studying from GMATWhiz in mid-December 2019 and took my second attempt on March 3rd 2020. That's when I scored 680. I thought of giving another attempt by the end of March but unfortunately lockdown was imposed. So, I had to wait till the test centers opened (because I did not want to take Online GMAT). So, the final attempt was in October. That's when I scored 720.

So, if you remove the gap because of the lockdown, it would come down to somewhere around 3 months. And I used to study for 4 hours on weekdays and on weekends it used to be somewhere around 6-7 hours. So, make sure you don't lose the momentum of studying. As you see in my debrief, it was very difficult for me to maintain that momentum during the lockdown. So, make sure you finish it off in a single go. All the best :)

vamshikaithi, a colleague of mine used egmat, and he is interested in another course. Do you have any idea whether on whether egmat and gmatwhiz kind of similar?

Hi sjuniv32,

Both have pre-recorded videos but GMATWhiz focuses more the strategy part. I did not find e-gmat to be very great for quant, CR and RC modules. Whereas GMATWhiz was good with all of them. Mainly it has a very good framework for CR and it has an elaborate module for RC. All in all, GMATWhiz is a lot more structured course and it is on point. And it is more personalized as well. It provides you additional modules for the topics in which you are weak. These are the main differences I found. And GMATWhiz has a mentorship service as well. Not sure if e-gmat provides the same.
