RC is my BIGGEST weakness and I have been working hard to overcome this challenge. The skill I find the most useful is to predict answers from the question asked by quickly scanning the keywords in the answer choices. I have prepared a list.

Feel free to suggest changes or add more to the list. THE MORE THE BETTER.

[b]Keywords and their meanings for RC and CR[b]

Compare/Contrast: However, although, despite
Example: Moreover, furthermore
Conclusion: So, therefore, thus
Explain: How something happened….
Analyze: Why something happened
Rebut: Negative opinion/tone
Function: why did the author write this
Demonstrate: ??

Hey thanks for this. I have been trying to read up more and more passages to gain speed. Perhaps you could try that too.. The comfort level with the passages will help you further.
