Let J and K be the initial salaries for Jason and Karen. J' and K' be the new salaries for Jason and Karen.
J' = (1 + P/100)J
K' = (1 + P/100)K
From statement 1, K = J + 2000
From statement 2, K' = J' + 2440
Substituting these values in the above equations we get,
J' = (1 + P/100)J
J' + 2440 = (1 + P/100)(J + 2000)
(1 + P/100)J + 2440 = (1 + P/100)J + (1 + P/100)2000
2440/2000 = 1 + P/100
122/100 = 1 + P/100
P = 22
So answer is C
J' = (1 + P/100)J
K' = (1 + P/100)K
From statement 1, K = J + 2000

J' + 2440 = (1 + P/100)(J + 2000)

I have a much less elegant solution.
2440/2000 = 1.22
Plug in sample salaries:
Karen: 10,000
Jason: 8,000
1.22 x 10,000 = 12,200
1.22 x 8,000 = 9,760
12,200-9,760 = 2,440.
2440/2000 = 1.22
Plug in sample salaries:
Karen: 10,000
Jason: 8,000
1.22 x 10,000 = 12,200
1.22 x 8,000 = 9,760
12,200-9,760 = 2,440.
