Hello Admission experts,

I am reapplying to the full time MBA program at the Simon school of business for the fall 2019 intake in round 1. I had previously applied for the Fall 2018 intake in round 3 and was declined admission after being wait listed. I had talked with one of the admissions committee member while my application was in the wait-list status and he had mentioned my GMAT score of 630 was the one of the biggest factor for the wait list. He had also mentioned that other parts of the application were not the problem at the time.

I re-took my GMAT and was able to get a 660 this time around.
Now my biggest question is should I change my Goals and school fit essay for this round of applications as it has only been 4 months since I got my Ding. My goals and reasons to attend Simon have not changed. I am definitely going to write about the steps and progress (my promotion) that I have made for this round of applications in the optional essay.

Little background for context
Nationality: India
Gender: Male
Industry: Biotechnology and Pharmaceuticals (I work in core Research and development of a mid size diagnostics company in the US)
Years of experience: 4
Short and Long term goals: I want to stay in the Phama-Biotech industry but in the management side of things.

Thank you for all the help and advise,

Laukik

Hi Laukik, thanks for your post.

Congrats on increasing your GMAT score.
I do not think you should significantly change your goals and reasons for wanting to go to Simon. As you said, it has only been 4 months, so it is unrealistic that these would change in such a short time. The admissions committee may think you are changing them just for the sake of changing them to try to appeal to the school. Instead, I like what you said about mentioning the progress you have made since last year. That is what Simon will want to hear - how you have grown and become a stronger applicant over the last 4 months.

Good luck!
