Hi nasifgmat,

Can you confirm your GMAT score data? I ask because a Q47/V20 wouldn't be a 460 (it would be closer to a 560), so one (or more) of those numbers is 'off.'

Assuming that your Official Score is somewhere in the range of 460 to 560, you will likely need at least another 3 months of consistent, guided study to get to the 700+ level. You'll also have to make some significant improvements to how you handle BOTH the Quant and Verbal sections.

1) Do you know which specific Schools you want to apply to?
2) Do yo know the exact requirements for the various scholarships at those Schools? Is it possible that there will be scholarships available after Round 1?

Hi EmpowergmatRichC,

I got 560(which is my first attempt). My target score is 700+. Following are the schools i have considered.

Insead
LBS
IESE Spain
ESADE Spain
HEC Paris
IMD Switzerland
SAID (Oxford)
Rotman Canada
Ivey canada

2. I am not aware of the exact requirements for the scholarships. However, i am aware that a good gmat score and a decent profile will land me in a scholarship. Scholarships are generally preferred in Round1.

Hi Nafis,

you have scored Q47 , so there is plenty of scope to improve Q score.

Please practice with GMATCLUB quant tests. These are more than enough to score Q50/51.

I have scored Q 50 . I practised only with gclub tests.

For verbal:

you should read manhattan SC, power score CR bible and RC material on gclub site.

also you can practice using scholaranium.

thanks

Dear All,

I have been preparing from Mid of Feb approx 2-3 hours a day. My quants was good even before attending a Gmat coaching. However,i was struggling with Verbal. I joined the coaching to improve verbal. I am deeply disappointed with my Verbal score. I need to get a decent score by August since Sept is deadline for most of the universities. My observation is my basics aren't strong. Kindly advise which book/course i should study to improve verbal scores.

Thank you in advance!

Hi,

I was in your Shoes a couple of months back. Three months should be good enough to achieve your target score. It’s a good thing you have taken a practice test. You can now know your weaknesses and work on them. If you are willing to study dedicatedly for that period, you are sure to achieve your goal. I believe you may benefit from taking a GMATPREP course. If you are willing, there are some great GMAT prep companies that can help you with your preparation.

In order to make an informed decision I would highly encourage you to go to their websites and try on their free trial and decide for yourself which one do you like better. You can try free access to Magoosh and Optimus Prep and EmpowerGMAT as they all have great reviews on GMATCLUB.

Also for verbal, I would highly encourage you to consider e-gmat verbal online or the e-gmat verbal live course. They are both amazing courses especially designed for non-natives. They offer almost 25% of their courses for free so you can try out their free trial to decide which one you want to go for. Plus the e-gmat Scholaranium which is included in both the courses is one of the best verbal practice tools in the market.

You can also try out the MGMAT guides they are phenomenal and cover the entire syllabus really well. MGMAT SC and Powerscore CR Bible are two of the best GMAT Prep books in the market. Further taking multiple mocks might help. Apart from the GMATPREP, Manhattan GMAT tests and Veritas Prep Tests in my experience have a good verbal and Quant section and will certainly help you point out and improve your weak areas.

Further another advantage of taking many mocks is to build up your stamina. Apart from the GMATPREP tests, taking practise tests of any major GMATPREP company ought to do that.

Lastly I would also encourage you to purchase the latest version of OG and the verbal review for some great additional practice. Here is a link that will help you with your decision.

Hope this helps. All the best.

Hi nasifgmat,

Some of the Schools that you listed are highly competitive - so they would likely expect a higher GMAT Score from you. From your messages, I think that your decision about which School to attend will be based heavily on the Scholarship(s) that are available, so we'll keep your original score goal in mind. That having been said, since you cannot define the specifics just yet, you really should research the various Scholarship opportunities in more detail.

Three months of additional, consistent study time would take you through the end of August, so you also have to consider the application deadlines for each School.

1) Going forward, how many hours do you think you can consistently study each week?

Hi nasifgmat,

Based on everything that you’ve described, I think that you would find the EMPOWERgmat Total Score Booster to be quite helpful. Most of our clients complete that Study Plan in under 2 months, but given your needs I would suggest that you not try to 'rush' through any of the material. We have a variety of free resources on our site (www.empowergmat.com), so you can 'test out' the Course before setting up an Account.

If you have any additional questions, then you can feel free to contact me directly.
