Should i attempt it again? Or is it a good enough score for admission into those programs?
Hi ClaraGowtama,

Congrats on the V86. Your total score is also good, but you may want to reach out directly to your target schools and check what they think.

All the best.

Sorry. I’m not familiar with the programs that you’re applying to so you may have to Google their average scores. If you need to convert focus edition to classic, just add about 55 or 65 points.

PS. Overall, 635 is the equivalent of 690 or 83rd percentile. I think that’s definitely starting to look competitive.

I would probably ensure that your other application components are in good shape before considering retaking. You don’t want to retake and potentially not achieve a higher score but also torpedo your chances by neglecting your application.

Hi everyone.

I recently attempted my first GFE exam after 6 months of intensive studying with TTP. From the attempt, i got a 635 (Q76,V86,DI83), which was not ideal.

I wish to apply to several Msc Finance program in Germany (Mannheim Uni, Goethe University, University of Cologne, Humboldt University). I believe that a strong gmat score will help my chances of getting in. I am aiming for at least 685 on GFE.

From the practice tests, my scores ranges from 585 to 655 with verbal as my strongest and DI as my weakest section.

I believe that with some more time put into practicing with time constraints and drilling quant concepts, I will be able to get a better score.

Should i attempt it again? Or is it a good enough score for admission into those programs?

Hi ClaraGowtama,

I agree that 635 is a very solid score! Regarding whether to give the GMAT another shot, can you reach out to the folks in admissions to see if they can provide some clarity regarding your score?

Thank you for the feedback, everyone!

I’ve already sent my previous score to the programs. However, I plan to retake the GMAT in March if my practice scores show significant improvement.

While my current score is relatively strong (83rd to 90th percentile for the programs i’m targeting), admissions decisions also depend on factors like GPA, working experiences, and more. Since those aspects are already set, I figured there’s no harm in giving the GMAT another shot.

In the meantime, I’m focusing on identifying and improving my weaknesses in Quant, with the hope of achieving an even higher score next time.
