Hi didemsarikayaa,

I do think it's worth putting in some more time to increase your verbal score. With that in mind, here are a few helpful articles:

Hi everyone,

Today, I got 655 (93th percentile) from GFE. But my section percentiles are Quant (95th),DI(94th),Verbal(33th)

My verbal percentile is too low compared to others, should I take the test again? What do you think about it, does top schools look specifically high verbal percentile as a crucial compenent?

FYI: I am a non-native

Best,
Didem

Congrats! No, I don't think you have much to worry about the verbal. As long as your TOEFL score is solid, I don't think anyone will care.

Hi! I don't think you need to retake the test for Verbal. However, if you want to get past the overall average GMAT score for top schools then you can retake the test (like if you want your overall GMAT to standout).

Hi didemsarikayaa,

Most schools prioritise the total score. However, some of them do publish recommended scores for each section. This information may be available on their websites, but you can also contact your target schools directly and check whether they would like you to improve your verbal score. Otherwise, you have an excellent total score, and you should be able to apply to any school you want.

All the best.

Hi Didem.

Schools may not be too worried about your Verbal score. At the same time, from what I've seen, top schools do prefer that each section score be relatively high, for instance, at least 70th percentile.

Meanwhile, with a somewhat higher Verbal score, you could score in the upper 600s or 700s if you maintain high Quant and DI scores.

So, you could retake just to be safe, or you could reach out to your target schools to ask them about what Verbal scores they want to see, and if it turns out that it would benefit you to score higher on Verbal, you could prepare for Verbal some more and achieve a super high GMAT score that would make your application stand out.

If you decide to retake, for tips on how to prepare for GMAT Verbal, see this post.
