Hurray! I made it to Kellogg (Part Time) for Fall 2006 !

The Admissions Director at Kellogg called me yesterday to tell me that I had been accepted.

I am awaiting the decision from Chicago GSB. I felt that my interview and overall application was better at GSB.

Kellogg was pretty quick to reply, just 13 days.

I never thought I would be posting a happy post in this forum, but I just did!! :-D

Is the admission process & rigor of PT apps comparable to FT MBA at Kellogg?

Although the schools might tell you otherwise, my opinion is the admission process of none of the PT programs are as tough as their FT counterparts. The difference is less (but still there IS a difference) at K,C and NYU while it is more at other schools.

However the rigor of the PT program is pretty comparable to the FT. I have friends some of whom are in the FT program and some are in the PT program at C and K and they tend to agree.

Do people ever go from PT at NW or Chicago to the full time programs, or is that just unheard of?

People do from what I have heard, you have to apply and you really need to be convincing. I think its probably a more difficult path because they dont want it to be a backdoor way for people to sneak in.

It's not easy to make the switch. I know of people who have tried and failed. I know of one person who did it successfully, but she had some pretty unique circumstances (she had to go back to her home country for a year and then reapplied). No matter whether we are talking GSB or Kellogg, making the switch does require that you apply like anyone else. In general, if you are hoping to "Sneak in" this way, I'd advise you against it.

i think it depends a lot of the school. at wharton they used to allow you to switch back and forth from emba to ft mba relatively easily but these days i have heard that they have made it harder.

RVD.
