If you are from india, dont bother converting your marks into gpa!!.. The schools have their way in doing those conversions..Hmm,the IIT + IIM brand will do a great way in increasing your 'relative gpa' :)

Thanx for the prompt reply and the encouraging words

I'm looking to take some courses to mitigate my subpar GPA. What are the courses most relevant to pre-MBA curriculum that adcom looks at?

Also, would adcom consider passing CFA level 1 to the same effect as taking extra courses?

Can the difference of taking the courses at a college ($500 per credit) and a respected university ($1200 per credit) justify the substantial $$ invested?

Thanks all

My second degree is in Law, from Delhii University, India. I worked full time during this course so my grades are poorly affected. It is very very difficult to score first div in this college. Only 10-12 % of the class score 1st div. here. Do you think that adcom will realize this?
Approx. 55-59 % is considered B+. I have tried to explain to the colleges and also asked my professor to write a letter stating this. Dont know if anyone will buy this.

i ahve a gmat of 690(is it good). it is above the average of all scores i am applying to. I had personal issues in my life and this also affected my studies negatively.

Another question; if your story has this emotional twist. Does adcom buy it or do they need to buy it? They have applicants who have higher gpa than you have and have average GPA so why do they even need to buy your story?
What do you think

To the original poster...the fact you were an EE probably helps make your GPA look somewhat better. That is usually a difficult major with a lot of people washing out. If you did well in your math and major specific classes I would imagine that would make it look better too. I would imagine it also depends on who you are competing with, if the schools you apply to has a student body heavily represented by engineers, eg MIT...well then it will be a harder battle because you will be going against people who probably performed better in their UG with a similar major.

Anything is possible, I know people who on paper were much better candidates for different grad schools than others but didn't get in for whatever reason. I think stellar essays and anything that really makes you standout would help.
