I would think they'd call by geographic regions, not last names.

Thanks. I'm starting to regret all the money this cost. I applied to an inordinate number of schools because I felt that so much of the process was a crapshot. I thought that applying to 3-4 schools within each cluster was the only way to ensure that I would end up at the best possible school. Obviously I'm happy that most are panning out but I guess my approach wasn't very cost effective, especially since I visited almost all the schools as well.

it's one of the biggest investments you are going to make, that cost is negligible!!

pooping pants at rapid rate right now as people on BW are reporting that last names starting with L are getting the calls. I'm L!!!! What if it goes by onto M?!!! Noooooo!!!

Are they really going in alphabetical order? If so, it's over for me!

you're probably right. it appeared on BW forums that people with last names beginning with C K L received calls as the day progressed, but someone just posted with a last name S and 10:30 AM call

Yeah, I saw it too. Finally figured out how to get onto BW. Heh. The poster said that person was a WLer from R1. So maybe it works differently for WLers. Or maybe this is all BS, and the whole process is completely random.

Weren't most of the domestic calls for admittees during R1 made on the first day of calls? I seem to recall that the international people were called on the second day. If that's true, I might unfortunately be screwed.

Well to be honest ... theres truly only one more day. In round 1, everyone who got admitted got admitted in the first two days. Wednesday had a few random calls, but it was only a few... 90% of those left on Wednesday were dings or WL.

I don't think that they are going in exact alphabetical order. It seems more likely that each person would be responsible for a certain group of names rather than one master list. Like nsentra just posted, there was an "S" at 10:30am.
The people on the BW forums are starting to go insane. If your name starts with a K, your status says complete, you didn't get the newsletter, you live in asia, and drive a Honda then you're Dinged...it is getting ridiculous. There was that one person this morning that wanted every admitted person to post important information such as whether the person that called you was male or female. Why would that possibly matter to them??? I think we're all a bit nervous everytime the phone rings but we can't fall to that level.

I do seem to recall that day 1 was filled with domestics, but I dont know for sure that no internationals got a call on day 1.

I just don't understand one thing, why don't schools just release decisions at once instance?! I mean no glorified fedex package notifications, mysterios unrelated status updates or exclusive admit calls two days before decision.

Just update everyone's webpage at 9:00 AM on the decision day. Voila!!
