One thing that may help is to go over not only why an answer choice in SC is correct buy why the other answer choices are wrong as well. All the best.

One suggestion for verbal is to look at it comprehensively. You may have answered correctly all the reading comprehension questions but if you have spent half an hour on those passages and left yourself with no time for sentence correction, then perhaps sentence correction is not the source of your problems.

Time is very important on the GMAT and especially in the verbal section. I did the worst on the RC and somewhat surprised you did so well. Not that everyone should be a copy of me but it’s just surprising to me.

Make sure you are optimizing your time.

Hi,

I've just finished the second official practice test, I've scored 730, 50 Q, 39 V, the strange thing is that, I had only 6 incorrect question in Verbal, 5 of them being SC and 1 RC. I missed several SC at the start of the test (even missed the first question).

So At this point, I want your guidance what my strategy should be, I need to really improve my SC skills, I am a non-native speaker, I've already read MGMAT guides and covered all OG questions (but not systematically, I was not focused)

Which course should I take to improve my score ideally to 770? Should I purchase some online course that focuses solely on verbal? What strategy do you suggest?

Thanks for your help in advance

Hey,

If you are looking for suggestions to improve your SC accuracy, then I would say to change your approach of solving SC questions. It's important to approach them from meaning stand-point. The step-by-step process of solving SC questions is:
  • Understand the intended meaning of the original sentence
  • Identify errors if any
  • Eliminate answer choices which either are grammatically incorrect or do not convey the intended meaning

And while you learn the methodology, do not focus on the time. In the initial stages, just focus on getting the answer right by using the right technique without worrying about the time. Once you feel confident, then you can start taking timed quizzes to get adjusted to time constraint.

No, actually I waste most of the time on SC, RC is my strongest side, I've covered formal logic curse during my bachelor studies and generally, I ace RC, only very seldomly I miss some questions not because I am not able to get the underlying logic, but because I can't effectively get the meaning of the passage.

I think the biggest difference between us is that I am not a native speaker, and I suffer most of the time of understanding meaning effectively/ not knowing certain words
