Top H1B employers for 2021-2023
I've done some digging and compiled the most recent data set found in the DHS database following bb previous post: https://gmatclub.com/forum/top-mba-h1b- ... 43153.html
Compared to Tech, consulting probably suffers harder with Deloitte cutting down on its H1B sponsor by 70%, Accenture by 74%, McKinsey by 75%, and KPMG by a brutal 80% (there is even news that KPMG does not sponsor anymore, at least in the near future). Among consulting, PwC, EY, and BCG are probably the safest bets for H1B sponsors, though we cannot know anything for sure.
Compared to 2022, most big tech companies cut down their H1B initial approval by half, with IBM reduced by 2/3. This trend is prevalent not only in tech but also across the finance and consulting sectors. Many employers overhired in 2022; thus they have to cut down on their hiring until the economy truly bounces back.
Among the top three industries - consulting, tech, and finance, the finance industry is probably right up there with the tech industry in reducing their H1B sponsor. Goldman Sachs and Capital One reduced sponsors by roughly 58%, with other top financial companies reducing their H1B sponsors by roughly 50%.
It's interesting that Sony does not suffer the same fate as others, and Expedia only cuts down its H1B sponsor by 17%. However, other travel/accommodation/lodging companies and CPG companies are almost the dead ends for international students (with at most 3-4 sponsors; some even have 0). It's also important to note that FY 2024 received a 60% increase in H1B applicants (to almost 760,000), the biggest jump in the most recent years, which will make the already tough H1B process even more competitive.

Quick note on data and dates. These are very confusing so let me try to clarify it for everyone: we have 3 out of 4 quarters of data for 2023, so the 2023 is not quite full year yet and hopefully some room for more applications but I feel most folks would get their applications approved/issued by June 30th, which is the end of Q3 in the US Fiscal year.
H1B Application process: The H1B lottery takes place between March 1 and March 17. Then applicants who were chosen in the lottery can apply for the H1B between April 1 and June 30.
