First,
congrats on your admission to Cornell and your interview at Haas. Both are great options.

Geography is important, and while I'm sure you could land up in the Bay Area if you went to Cornell you will have an inherent advantage if you are at Berkeley. Then again, if you're looking to stay in the NY area Cornell would be a great opportunity. From my own research (talking to students/reading) the 1-year program at Cornell is going pretty well, having said that, Haas' FT MBA program has been around for quite some time and is fairly established. It would be great to be a part of something emerging and growing but there's something to be said about going somewhere that's well-established in its field. You still obviously will have the strength of the Johnson School and Cornell brand even if you do the 1-year program so that's something to consider as well.

Finally, as you mentioned, if you are looking to spend the least amount of time in school to get back to work then the Cornell program makes sense. However, going for a full-time 2 year program opens you up to exploring more opportunities that could be beneficial/enjoyable for your long-term career (study abroad, consulting projects, etc)

I got admitted to Cornell Tech and was lucky enough to be given a scholarship. I'm pretty old (36 yr) and thought this 1 year program was a perfect fit for me and decided to go for it.

Then I got interview from Haas, and although I haven't got the admission, I have the strong feeling I can get it but to my knowledge, Haas' scholarship needs to be applied separately so you won't know whether you'll get it at the time you are admitted. I know it's too early to debate now but since I don't have too much time left for Cornell enrollment (starts in May and I need to apply Visa since I'm an international student), I think I should ask for suggestion earlier.

My basic info is I've got PhD in EE, 9 yrs WE, in tech (research) and education tech (PM). My post-MBA goal is PM in high-tech, preferably in US. I lean towards Haas since it's higher in ranking and well known for high-tech focus, so I guess it's easier for me to find a job as an international candidate. But my wife prefers Cornell simply because the cost is smaller and it saves me 1 year of time - given that I'm pretty old already. But my concern is with 1 year program in NYC, I may not be able to find enough opportunities in high-tech, especially in CA.

Which one is a better choice?

I think you should be better off with Haas. Proximity to Silicon Valley is a priceless asset.

Thank you for all the suggestions! I lean towards Berkeley now so the only problem is whether I can actually get an offer from it:)
