I got into HBS and Yale with just GRE scores - both verbal and quant were above the 90th percentile. As for test scores, I really think it's just a check off the box type thing - can this person exert the effort to do well on standardized tests?

Hey all - apologies if this isn't the right place to post this, but I couldn't find a better option.

I plan to take both the New GRE next month AND retake the GMAT after more studying (didn't do so well the first time around).

From looking at practice questions, it seems like, for whatever reason, the GRE is a much more intuitive test for me. While I intend to try hard for a good score on both exams, my prediction is that I will do much better on the GRE.

My ultimate goal is NYU, and I've directly asked their admissions team, who told me:

"Thank you for your interest in NYU Stern. Applicants who submit GRE scores in lieu of GMAT scores are not held in lesser regard. Taking the GRE exam will not have a negative impact on your application. We do not have any statistics on the average GRE score.

But I know everyone says that, in actuality, the GMAT is held in higher regard.

Just curious if anyone on here actually has made it into a top MBA program with GRE scores only??


Help!! Would love to hear some honest stories of what's happened to applicants who apply with only GRE. Do they ask in interviews why you took that test instead of GMAT?

In at Wharton and Tuck with a 324 (162Q, 162 V) Those come out to about a 87th percentile and 89th percentile respectively. I was also admitted to Harvard Kennedy School. I labored for months over the idea that I might have to explain my choice of GRE scores. Never once. If anyone has any questions let me know.

I have been accepted at Cornell Johnson, waitlisted at Kellogg and was wait-listed at Tuck last year. GRE score- 168Q, 158V, 4.5..I had 690 GMAT (50Q, 33V, 5AWA) so decided to go for GRE..It worked! try to have both percentiles above 80% and invest time in framing strong essays/ stories.

any indian applicant who got an admit to us mba through gre score?
