friskymarkets:
Since technically my pre-MBA and post-MBA industries are the same, how do I sell the need for an MBA in my essays apart from the school-specific resources/courses?
A: There are many reasons people pursue MBAs besides just resources/courses. You can talk about things like clubs, treks, conferences, academic research, broader networking, cross-university initiatives, etc. The world is your oyster! It's also important to note that you can talk about the fact that while you have experience in X, you are looking to taking more advanced courses in X but also complementing your knowledge with courses in Y that will make you a more well-rounded professional in your industry to tackle A, B and C. Hopefully you get the idea...
Also, does my switching jobs this close to the application create a red flag? How do I address it?
A: It's not a red flag (don't forget, you technically can be in that job for another year before starting) but you do have the burden of explaining that transition. You you have to address why you made this move and what you are anticipated to experience and develop until you graduate. While your resume can't highlight accomplishments you haven't made yet, you can note your ongoing responsibilities and WIP projects. It's not easy but it's manageable.
