I got admitted to both HEC Paris (with a small scholarship) and INSEAD (Fontainebleau campus in France). I'm based in the U.S. with a consulting background and want to transition to tech, and the international aspect of both HEC Paris and INSEAD are a plus.
I'm trying to decide between the two. My analysis:

- Duration: 16 months (2 years), with a summer internship opportunity
Prestige: very good. In France, the overall university has a reputation similar to Harvard/Yale in the US, but its MBA program has only risen in rankings quite recently
- Forbes 2019 international 2-year MBA ranking: #2
Financial Times 2020 global MBA ranking : #9
Bloomberg Businessweek 2018 global MBA ranking: #52 (oof)
The Economist 2019 global MBA ranking: #3 (wow)
International Focus and Cultural Experience: excellent, only 30mins away from Paris, and with the opportunity to maybe live in Paris the 2nd year and commute to campus
Cost of Attendance: $78,000 total tuition for a 16-month program, minus a $20,000 scholarship (so total tution of $58,000). However, have to pay living expenses for 2 years in France.
INSEAD:
- Duration: 10 months (1 year), no summer internship opportunity as starting in September
Prestige: excellent/very good, widely considered as one of the best non-US MBA programs
- Forbes 2019 international 1-year MBA ranking: #2
Financial Times 2020 global MBA ranking : #3 (wow)
Bloomberg Businessweek 2018 global MBA ranking: #25 (oof)
The Economist 2019 global MBA ranking: #22 (oof)
International Focus and Cultural Experience: excellent, the opportunity to live in the outskirts of Paris (although 60mins away by car), and to maybe spend part of the program in Singapore, is amazing
Cost of Attendance: $94,000 total tuition for a 10-month program, with no scholarship. However, only have to pay living expenses for 1 year.
Risk: obviously COVID-19 might make attending INSEAD in person difficult for autumn 2020. This risk is bigger for a 1 year program vs 2 year program.

Do you speak French?
Is there anything else besides COVID-19 holding you back from picking INSEAD? (I would count opportunity cost in there as well by the way and that would make it more financially advantageous without external factors that is)
Where would you be working upon graduation? What is your target location for Tech?

- I speak very basic French.
- I would like to be working in Europe, but probably not France due to lack of French. Specifically, I think it would be Belgium, the Netherlands, or the UK.
- Other than COVID-19 and cost comparisons, I don't have major impediments to picking INSEAD.
