\(H + J + I =\) Total no of Books purchased

Now, \(4 + 1 + I = 2*3\)

Or, \(5 + I = 6\)

SO, I = 1 , Answer must be (A)

Average of 2 books, then a total of 6 books purchased. H and J already purchased 5 books cumulative. I is left with no other option than buying 1 book to keep the average 2.

Since the total number of books purchased is 3 x 2 = 6, Ivan purchased 6 - 4 - 1 = 1 book.

Answer: A

Total Books Purchased = Average * Number of People = 2 * 3 = 6
Books purchased by Helen + Jim = 4 + 1 = 5

Therefore, # of books purchased by Ivan = 6 - 5 = 1

ANSWER: A
