Sooooo, I took the test in early 2008 and scored a 570 36Q/33V. I was so disappointed with my score that I decided I would put everything on hold for awhile and re-take it sometime again. I think that time is approaching. It sure was nice to forget about the test and my bad experience (I actually had to dig through an old desk drawer to find out what my score was because I had forgotten that too). Unfortunately, I most certainly forgot a lot of the material (judging by my score, it's safe to say I didnt know all that much in the first place

).
After reading many of the stories posted here, it became quite obvious that I took an awful approach to the test; I used about 6 different Kaplan books from different years that all contained the same lessons. I jumped from book to book and was more interested spending time on questions instead of reading the lessons (though I did read a fair amount). I also took a Kaplan class (I think it was 6 weeks or so) and I hated it. It was after work and I was always tired and certainly was not inspired. Plus, the GMAT is all about identifying your strengths and weaknesses and its tough to get much out of a classroom setting because everyone has a differnet comfort level with different material. I wasted my time and money.
As you can tell from my scores, the quant section is my weakness. I never felt comfortable with so many different types of questions (especially numbers properties) but I recall being surprised that I scored that low. I was equally surprised that I scored a 33 on the verbal section though I will gladly admit that I recall being absolutely TERRIBLE with the reading comp questions! So at least I know my weaknesses. I need a complete do-over on quant and more of a brush up on verbal.
Im aiming to score in the neighborhood of a 630-650 as I have good work experience and recs and I interview well. Based on my first score, if I only slightly improve in verbal (or even stay the same), how much do I need to bring my quant score up to fall within my target range? Anyone have an idea? Much appreciated.
