I voted Duke. Cornell is to "old hat" - go expand your network.

Duke all the way. The $ difference between UNC and Duke isn't large enough to justify turning down Duke. Cornell is in her backyard IIRC, so she should try something new.

I only voted duke to see who everyone else voted for. I agree with peli's logic on the hippy values, but his conclusion is less than perfect. By going to Duke, she can distinguish herself from her class by being the only person interviewing for internships in dungarees and flowers in her hair. At UNC, this would be the norm.

I think I might add, that I can't help thinking her name must be audrey from the screenname. Unfortunate, that.

you guys are awesome. I'm so touched.

But wait till I hear about the dough from Cornell....that news comes out today, I believe. Perhaps the news will be quite something....

Besides, I wouldn't call Cornell old hat. As you might imagine, we tree-huggers don't spend a whole lot of time hanging out at the business school....

To be continued.

I always see Audrey when I see her SN

In b-world, I think the difference between Cornell and Duke is negligible.

Depending on what you want to do you could argue that Duke has the better name. Duke is usually ranked higher.

Is Cornell really more of a "brand name" than Duke? I realize the undergrad is Ivy League and all, but I think for b-school you gotta go w/ Duke.

Even for the undergraduate level, generally Duke kicks Cornell's butt.
(Not all ivy schools are equal)

Once again, it is what you want to do with your degree. Do not put too much value on the name itself.

From what I've read and heard, Duke has a higher placement % in the top MC firms and Corporations (Mgmt, Mktg etc) whereas Cornell has a higher placement % in the top Financial Services Cos and IB firms.

Yeah, I would agree that while Duke has been ahead in recent rankings, Cornell and Duke are more or less equals with solid footing in the elite category. I believe the decision between these schools should come down to location preference, perhaps specialty or concentration and personal feel. The opportunity to expand your network is a compelling reason as well. The difference in rankings within this group wouldn't be my primary concern.

I actually wouldn't choose UNC over the other two. My first post was meant as kind of a joke towards aaudetat's tree-hugging ways. UNC is a great school, but I think the smart choice is to go with the highest cluster you're able to get into, and then use other factors to decide among schools within the cluster.
