thanks a lot jon.

I just wanted clarification on 2 points you mentioned :-
1. i am unable to understand the point regarding non target school or industry. If you could just elaborate on this point that would be great.
2. During my first MBA i scored 2.94 / 4 and the topper was 3.4/4. Normally the topper scores 4/4 . How do i convey this fact to the ad com??

Sure,
Well there are feeder schools and feeder industries and feeder employers from which Top 10 schools draw the majority of their candidates. Schools like the IITs or NIT make up the large majority of Indians in top 10 Programs (I don't have a concrete stat for you here, but I remember once reading it was something like 90%. Pure hearsay though). Same goes with industries and employers. Yes, you can get into Bschool from ANY industry, but if you are in VC, Hedge Funds, Real Estate, Pharma, strategy consulting it's a lot easier.

For your GPA, the schools will look only at your Indian grades. Not the conversions. You can of course point out this fact that the Topper got a 3.4, but still... At the same time, your UG grades are far more important. And excellent.

Best,
Jon
