Help required - GMAT in week 2 of November

Question

Dear Experts

I have given 5 mock tests in 1.5 weeks till last week w/following scores in GMAT conditions.

Test 1. Quant - 37 / Verbal - 26 / IR - 3 Score - 530
Test 2. Quant - 35 / Verbal - 26 / IR - 4 Score - 510
Test 3. Quant - 36 / Verbal - 24 / IR - 4 Score - 510
Test 4. Quant - 36 / Verbal - 18 / IR - 4 Score - 460
Test 5. Quant - 41 / Verbal - 25 / IR - 5 Score - 550

My target score is 660 - 680 & need help with which areas to focus on weekly practice and access to more relevant sectional questions + mock tests till November week 1.

My sectional average analysis shows following :

1. Quant - More DS questions incorrect as compared to PS questions ( DS - 40% - 69% / PS - 60% - 80%). topics incorrect around co-ordinate geometry / triangles / inequalities / circles / quadrilaterals / solving two linear equations with 1 unknown. please suggest weekly plan

2. Verbal - CR / RC (55 - 65 % ) SC - 70% +. RC and CR are main concern areas.please suggest weekly plan

Hi swarup1981,

From your post, it's not clear whether you took a CAT once every 1.5 weeks OR you took all 5 CATs over the last 10 days. GMAC has publicly stated that the Official Score that you earn on Test Day is within +/- 30 points of actual ability. Assuming a similar 'swing' in how your CATs function, most of your CAT score results show that you essentially performed the same each time (530 +/- a few points). Raising a 530 to a 660+ will likely take at least another 2-3 months of consistent, guided study - and you'll have to make significant improvements to how you handle BOTH the Quant and Verbal sections.

Before I can offer you the specific advice that you’re looking for, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

1) How long have you studied?
2) What study materials have you used so far?

Goals:
5) When are you planning to take the GMAT?
6) When are you planning to apply to Business School?
7) What Schools are you planning to apply to?

Hi swarup1981,

If you were really efficient with the next phase of your studies, then you could potentially hit your score goal by the end of November (although you might need more time than that). You would have to commit to a consistent study routine and focus on learning/practicing the proper Tactics for the Quant and Verbal sections though.

1) Going forward, how many hours do you think you can consistently study each week?

46 hours of study each week would be a LOT (especially if you plan to do that each week for the next 2 months) - and you have to be careful about not 'burning out' before Test Day. This is meant to say that you probably should not study that much, but it's ultimately up to you to keep track of how you're feeling and make smart choices about your own well-being.
