There are many benefits to timing your practice, including:
I have been studying GMAT for a month, used OG 13, Veritas Prep Books and MGAT SC. I didn't have time to go through all the errors that I had nor did I take PP before the real thing.
My 1st try is 610 Q 44/V 30, and I really would like to improve to at least 700 in another month or so. Would it be possible at all? Helpful tips?
I'm a bit depressed, getting this score makes me feel like I did not study at all!
I was kinda in your shoes. I bought the OG book, but I didn't find it very user friendly in the math department, as my quant was pretty terrible (my last real math class was in 2002). I enrolled in the Knewton online prep course, which is like $400 through gmatclub and guarantees a 50 point increase. I took the practice gmat they give you to establish a baseline and scored a 600. I studied for about 2 months on and off, but you could definitely pull the course off in a month if you spent a few hours a night on it. I took the gmat Monday and got a 700, and I credit most of that to Knewton. The practice tests were harder than the real thing, and my practice tests actually dropped into the 500s until the last one. My math only came up to 61st percentile (it was horrible before), but my verbal was 96th percentile. Seeing as your verbal was low, I think Knewton would help. I thought the Verbal prep and practice tests mirrored the actual gmat. The only thing I don't know is how I would have done on an actual GMAT without taking the knewton course, as their baseline may have been harder than the real thing. Even so, my last knewton test was a 680, so I definitely improved throughout the course. Anyway that's my experience, hope it helps.
