I am really shocked and disappointed with my 1st practice test (GMATprep). I got only 290 whoaaa..this is horrible seriously..let me tell you that i practiced Quant PS problems from official guide with 80 percent accuracy..even today i solved some doubted questions and solved 700-800 level questions in less than 1 minute for each question. i haven't done DS because they seem scary to me honestly..

Now coming to the verbal part..m good in sentence correction, i solved all sentence correction questions in official guide and verbal guide with 90 percent accuracy. The thing is i know i haven't completed all the quant chapters and critical reasoning part but i was not expecting such horrible scores..i was numb for next 10 minutes. 2nd point is that in practice test i got some questions wrong continously (eg from 3 to 7 questions in line)..but still i am shocked with this dissapointment. plzz help me coz i have my exam on 27..if anybody can help me making a schedule for next 14 days?? m really depressed.

You cannot skip half of a section and then expect a good score, no matter how strong you are in the other half.
Go through our DS book - https://www.gmatclub.com/forum/veritas-prep-resource-links-no-longer-available-399979.html#/
(the "Download one of our 12 GMAT lesson booklets" link leads you to our DS book)

If you are good in PS, there is no reason for you to fear DS. The concepts are exactly the same; the form of the question is different. You should see an immediate bump in your score.
Also, focus on CR - find out the various question types and know how to deal with them.

For a week, invest your time in these two things. Then take another full length practice test. If the score doesn't improve substantially, you might need to think about postponing your test. Note that it makes sense to postpone 7 days prior to the test since you will be charged only $50 rescheduling fee in that case.

thanku sir for your kind support..u said that there is always a silver lining..other thing i would like to mention that i need a schedule for preparation..and i am helpless in this thing coz i never get to the point after making a timetable. currently i m free and have no job so it means i have plenty of time but still m sad with such stupid scores. i have completed SC with good accuracy level but still m in vague that will i be able to score atleast 700..i know i can do this but i need help..there are some people who have scored 700+ in 2 weeks. and if i start my preparation from now, still i have covered sc pat and 600 level questions. I am pretty strong in stats, word problems, algebra, but still i want to get into 800 level which is really tough and need hard work and persistence but i am ready to do so..coz this is the only chance i have.

Hi,
You would be aware of your weak areas, and best would be to spend time on those areas. The moment you get hang of the method to do DS, your knowledge of PS will come into play.
So work on DS and CR for a week, spending equal time on both and spend a small part of the day brushing up even SC and concepts of Quant.
CR- I think more you practice, more you will be at ease in CR.
Take a test after a week and spend a bit of extra time on initial 10 Qs and see how you score on that.

chetan2u what i have planned for next 6 days is that i will go thorough manhattan critical reasoning and solve atleast 50 sub 600 level questions and 50 700+ questions.. For quant i will do D.S. and atleast 300 problems of all chapters .i know i can do this. I dnt want to postpone my exam coz i want to face it as a challenge. will give another shot on 14 and see what comes out.

Hi,
it is not only important to score well right now but also important to check why those 6 were wrong ..
there are mock tests of princeton, manhattan, magooah, veritas etc, which you can plan within the week after you have done a bit of studies and can put your knowledge earned to test

Hi mushusidhu,

If your score goal is 700+, then you have to change your overall schedule/plan. With a 290, you would have to improve 410+ points in 2 weeks and that is almost certainly not going to happen. The GMAT is a predictable, standardized Test, so you CAN train to score at a higher level - but you cannot train THAT quickly.

Now, you can take your GMAT as scheduled, but you're going to end up taking it again (and paying another $250), so the most economical move right now is to pay the $50 rescheduling fee and push back your Test Date. Many Test Takers spend 3 months (or more) of consistent study time before they hit their 'peak' scores, so I would assume that you'll need at least that much study time too.

You might also want to invest in a GMAT course of some type (either Guided Self-Study or instructor-led). In that way, you'll be more likely to learn all of the necessary content, Tactics and the little 'secrets' behind the GMAT.

1) What Schools are you planning to apply to?
