"High intake of X" requires singular verbs "causes". Eliminate B and E.
"dairy products" and "grain products" are needed to be parallel. Eliminate C.
In structure "A causes X but also improves Y", "improves" needs to agree with singular noun A. Hence eliminate A.

D is the answer choice

SPLIT :- causes vs cause....
eliminate unnecessary words to link the verb with correct subject.
High intake of dairy products such as milk, yogurt and cheese, and grain products such as breads and cereals sometimes causes thyroid gland inflammation and thyroid cancer, but, at a proper dose, also improve both neurological and physical development.
high intake requires single CAUSES..
Eliminate B and E

next split:- improve vs improves..
again high intake requires IMPROVES
eliminate A

and, at a proper dose, also improves VS but, at a proper dose, also improves
there is a CONTRAST, so BUT is required and not AND that makes the second portion paralle and equal to first part
eliminate C

ans D
