I have admit in Europe from  IE, ESADE, ESSEC, and  alliance manchester and in US from William & mary ( mason ) and babson. I was not able to apply at better US college due to limited time availibility. I have a prior auditing experience of 5 years at a BIG 4 firm in india, and then 2 more years in growing my own family business. My goal is to work at a good consulting firm (prefferably MBB) with a good package for 2-3 years, and then come back to india and grow my family business or start my new business.  IF i consider rankings, then its a no brainer, because all the europeon colleges mentioned above are ranked way higher, but my doubt rises because i have heard that indians have lot of problem in finding jobs in europe ( leaving UK ) because they dont know the local language, and hence most of them have to come back to india to look for a job ( with too low wages ). On the other hand, doing mba from above 2 US college (STEM courses) would help me get a job security for 3 years ( with similar package to the top tier euoropeon schools mentioned above, at least as per their respective employement reports)  It would really help to hear the opinions of the fellow GMAT club members in making my decesion. Should i go for the higher ranking school in Euorope with higher risk of securing job outside india  or  a lower ranking US school with higher safety of securing job in US.

Thanks

Hi, I think an MBA from top European schools such as IE, ESADE, and ESSEC will give you better career opportunities than doing an MBA from a lower ranked B-School in US. Also, you will be exposed to studying with one of the best minds and professors if you do an MBA from top EU B-School.

<quote option="&quot;PyjamaScientist&quot;">No disrespect to either, but with Mason or Babson, chances of converting an MBB are next to negligible. Especially in this time when Consulting landscape is still not entirely clear for the coming year.<br />
So, I'd say, go to IE/ESSEC. They are far superior business schools and top consulting firms like Roland Berger, etc regularly recruit from there.<br />
Also, take into consideration that US is currently going through a white-collar recession. Folks outside of T-15 schools are struggling to find opportunities and the situation isn't improving anytime soon. My honest advice would be to join ISB and save burning yourself a big hole in the wallet.</quote>

Thanks for your information, it has certainly helped me in getting a clearer picture. As for ISB, I already have a professional degree from india (CA), and i think that learnings from a more diverse  group would be much better for me. I know ISB is one of the top schools in india, but my preferrences do not alinged with it, as i dont want a job in india post mba.

Thanks again for your time and advice

I agree. The caliber of students and opportunities that you will have in Europe will be much better… even if you get full scholarships for the US programs, those are really really outliers…

However, if you get full scholarships the experience and knowledge you receive in the low ranked programs will be comparable to you would get in a tough program outside of recruiting, reputation and alumni recognition as well as classmates. You would take a discount in that case but if you go is to go back to your family business, you may be able to do this faster if you had a full scholarship but I think that would be shooting yourself in the foot frankly so if you’re not Super financially constrained, I think the European programs present a better learning opportunity.

Thanks alot bb for your opinion, it really matters alot coming from you. You were bang-on , for assuming that i would have gotten a good scholarship from US schools, and i had mistakenly not mentioned that above, but that was also one of the facotrs for considering us schools over euoropeon schools. Fortunately i dont have any financial constraints, and hence i will look to your opinion  with an open mind. Also any suggestion regarding which school would be best for my profile among the 4 Europeon schools mentioned above. If possible please give a reason also behind your opinion. Thanks again for you time and advice

A532 - A few points in addition to the above:

1. Given your plan to come back to India after working for a couple of years, a well-ranked European school would be a better choice than a lower ranked US one, as you'll likely find post-MBA opportunities within the EMEA region, geographically closer to India for subsequent relocation.

2. A Top European MBA will open doors to opportunities in English-speaking countries beyond UK. For example, Middle East (where consulting hiring is good), Netherlands, and to a lesser extent Scandinavian countries (e.g. Sweden). MBB's and Tier-2 consulting firms hire a lot from INSEAD/ HEC/ IESE at these locations. IE, ESADE & ESSEC are good brands too, and with good work/ networking efforts from your side, you'd be more likely to land a consulting role from these programs when compared to a lower-ranked US B-school such as the ones you've indicated.

3. Between IE and ESADE, my opinon is that IE is more strong in consulting (particularly in Middle East) and entrepreneurship, while ESADE offers a balanced mix of consulting and sales/ marketing/ management paths post-MBA. The employment reports are ofcourse the best place to look for the recent stats.

Hope this helps a bit. Good luck!

Hi @admitStreet, bb , @PyjamaScientist @AlexSgmat

Thanks for shairing your thoughts. I had talked to many indians alumni's from both IE and ESADE who had graduated wothing last 3 years, and shockingly as per them 90% of indian students are not able to get a job outside india, leading to eventually return back to india and settle for a low paying job here ( some even not got any job for a year after graduation ). On the other hand ,almost 100% of  indian graduates from w&m (not babson) were able to get a job in US ( not from MBB ), and there packages as well were double to that graduates from IE/Esade are getting in india.

Moreover, At w&m ,almost all the past graduates  were satisfied with thier mba learning and the post employement return on investment, whereas , although graduates were more than satisfied from their learnings from IE/ESADE, but were dissappointed by the post employemt scene, as they had to return back to india only, leading to paying almost double , and getting half the ROI, compared to graduates from W&M. Combined with the fact that, w&m ranked 1 in us in terms of learning in bloomsberg report 2024, and is improving its ranks across all the major online ranking sites year on year.

I am not advocating w&m and insulting the europeon schools image, but this is what i found when i talked to past Indian alunms from respective bcschools, leading to creat a doubt in my mind that what i should do now. Personally i too want to choose IE/esade over w&m, as i think i would be getting a better cohort experience and a better network, but when i hear the job conditions post mba, it really scares me.

would really appreciate your opinion after taking above information in consideration,

And Thanks to all of you for taking out some time to help me in this.
