(b) as well as his cat and goldfish, prevent
[Incorrect - Singular subject because of as well as]
(c) in addition to his cat and goldfish, are preventing
[Incorrect - Singular subject because of in addition to]
(d) together with his cat and goldfish, were preventing
[Correct - Plural subject]
(e) accompanied by his cat and goldfish, prevent
[Incorrect - Singular subject because of accompanied by]
oopsss...did not read other messages.
I did not know that "together with" affects the similar way as others do and therefore chose D that is for sure a wrong answer
