I am an applicant for ICS starting in 2017. Could you possiblly tell me, what is the critical point to pass in essays and interview?
I would appreciate it if you could kindly provide with me tips. Thank you!
Hello Sogat70,
ICS requires us to write two essays. One is about our future plans and ambitions and the other one is more of a detailed information about ourself. Critical point is to bring out few instances where you have truly demonstrated qualities like leadership, problem solving etc. It can be either in your school, college, job or personal life.
Although I certainly can't guide you in detail about the content to write in your essay, I can share few tips from my experience :
1. Prior to writing the essay, learn the motive of each question. What are the imperative qualities these questions are looking for?
2. Jot down the highlights from your experience like interests, achievements, struggles etc.
3. Instead of writing generic statements like "I have leadership quality, problem solving skill, great attitude blah blah ", quote the
instances from your life where you have truly lived it.
4. In the end, relate how your personal experiences will be relevant in the B school.
5. School is not just looking for the reasons to see if you can fit in, but they also want to know your reason for choosing ICS.
6. Lastly, spend as much time as possible in accumulating the points before starting the draft. It is more important to do your research.
Interview will be mostly based on the essays. So, if you have written a good and genuine essay then interview will be a cake-walk. You will be confident enough. Polish your communication skills and be prepared with the key points to speak about.
I hope these points will be helpful. If you have more doubts, please write back.
Thanks,
Ramya
