So I took the official GMAT prep test (the official software) and got 720 
Q: 49 Percentile: 83
V: 40 Percentile: 90
I got 11 and 12 wrong answers for Quant and Verbal respectively though.
It's a surprisingly high score considering that I had only studied for around 16 hours when I took the test. I'm Asian and English is not my first language.
Since I am a first time poster here, can you veterans advise me how accurate is this prep test? I am 20 hours into studying and I really don't know whether I should go on working on it or take the test myself, I heard some claimed that spending too long on studying could really have a negative effect, especially when you are ready.
I'm not sure if the score is an indicator that I am ready

Why exactly do you find this result surprising? Have you ever taken a diagnostic test?

To start, 720 is an outstanding initial CAT score (the average score on the Official GMAT hovers around 540-550 most years). Practice CAT scores are only as realistic as YOU make the process of taking the CAT. The more the 'CAT-taking event' deviates from what you'll face on Test Day, the more likely the score is to be inaccurate (and in most cases, that means "inflated").
Here are some details to consider: When you took this CAT...
1) Did you take the ENTIRE CAT (including the Essay and IR sections)?
2) Did you take it at home?
3) Did you take it at the same time of day as your Official GMAT?
4) Did you do ANYTHING during this CAT that you couldn't do on Test Day (pause the CAT, listen to music, etc.)?
What is your goal score?
When are you planning to take the GMAT?
When are you planning to apply to Business School?

. I found it surprising because I have put only a few efforts in GMAT and with this very good result I'm not sure about which areas I need to improve, or maybe I should take the test already.
