So after 1 month of prep, I realised most of my 80% of Quant careless mistakes were attributed to bad handwriting or misplacing the decimal, made 2 look 5, writing down one less zero, etc during time pressure of the GMAT test, is there a way to? take clear notes? Specially during the pressure of doing question within 2 mins? any way I can practice ?
Hey! There is no real way of taking clear notes, I think you will just have to improve your handwriting on the side
. Also, the only way to improve is by practicing consistently. Have you been consistent for last 1 month i.e. have you practiced for 2 ~3 hours daily? If yes, then you are almost there and will start seeing results in next couple of weeks. If not, then you will have to be consistent. Secondly, have you been making error logs? If yes, then on what type of questions do you generally make careless errors?
If you have done all of this and still not improving, then you will have to tweak your strategy of time-based practice sessions. Let's say you are solving 21 questions of Quant in 45 minutes flat. Tweak your strategy to this :
Spend 11 mins on Q1 to Q5, 10 mins on Q6 to Q10 (you can take 1-2 risks), 10 mins on Q11 to Q15 (you can take 1-2 risks), 14 mins on Q16 to Q21. This also means that (since GMAT clock runs backwards) when you have 36 mins left, you should be at Q5 (considering you need 2 mins to answer that question), when you have 26-27 mins you should be at Q10, when you have 15-16 mins you should be at Q15 (since you will need 1-2 mins to answer that question).Let me know if you still have queries or want to discuss on the questions I have raised.
